Axe fuel tax! (Or the bunny gets it...)
Don't know about you, but if we were to put money on two things
happening in the foreseeable future, it would be a significant drop in fuel prices and a return to topping rapists and murderers.
Ironically, or perhaps not, the two e-petitions racing for the top spot on the government's new website call for debates on exactly those two topics.
The CHEAPER PETROL AND DIESEL, BY ROBERT HALFON MP AND FAIRFUEL UK petition is listed in the Treasury Department section on the website and last time we looked had 20,722 signatures (and counting).
The Petition to retain the ban on Capital Punishment (which has accidentally been placed in the Ministry of Justice department on the site, and not the Department of Culture, Media and Sport…) was in hot pursuit with 19,277 (and counting).
Apparently, if enough sympathisers add their digital signatures to either campaign, it might trigger a debate in the house.
Trials underway at a secret location
If PHers want to do their bit for democracy in action and, you know, 'make a difference' (no, we're not cynical at all...), we suggest showing support for this petition instead.
