When it comes to supercars in the capital, 2018 started with a resounding bang. New Year's Day had barely begun when we spotted an Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante - what better or more beautiful way could there be to kick start a cold January?
Right at the other end of the scale, there's the bespoke Mansory JS1 - a rebodied Lamborghini Aventador belonging to billionaire James Stunt - which bristles with attention to detail, but probably isn't to the taste of discerning PHers.
On the subject of unique, and somewhat risqué cars, we also managed to spot a head turning Ferrari F12 TdF which featured heritage ‘lipstick’ around the front grill, in homage to the 250 TR. However, it wasn’t just the paint scheme on this car which was unique. The entire front end was completely different to a ‘standard’ F12 TdF, featuring an extra set of headlamps, and lacking the usual carbon end plates at either side of the bumper. This rare beast was the product of Ferrari’s Tailor Made program, and Ferrari themselves said they wouldn’t do the same for any other customer.
Having five doors, four seats, and an enormous boot doesn’t sound like a typical supercar, however, the ABT RS6-R, based on the Audi RS6, certainly has the performance of one. Producing 730hp, and one of only 25 ever to be made, it could conceivably be described as the ultimate estate car on the market.
Elsewhere in town we spotted the usual Performantes, 918s, Bugatti Chirons (yes that’s a blue engine), and even a 288 GTO and Alfa Romeo 8C Monza - proof that London supercars have come back just as strong as ever for 2018!
