Despite rumours a new Bugatti would be a four-door, a roadster, a lightweight exotic, or perhaps nothing at all, it appears the company could be planning a Veyron successor for 2012.
Some reports suggested that Bugatti would not be making another car, but in an interview for Holland's AutoTelegraaf, CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen said a new model to replace the Veyron will arrive in three to four years.
Even though there is pressure to make greener and more efficient cars, Paefgen said that the new Bug would have to stand up to the performance standards set by the Veyron. This means that the new car could exceed its predecessor’s insane 250mph top speed that was achieved thanks to a quad-turbo W16 pumping out over 1000 horsepower.
The company is also considering a racing program, although it is unclear what championship it would compete in. Previously it had even been suggested that Porsche would force Bugatti to become nothing more than a coachbuilder.
