Good news if you're heading to Goodwood Members' Meeting this month - Gordon Murray Automotive has chosen the event to reveal its much-anticipated T.50 to the public for the first time. Not just as a static display either; GMA says it'll deploy the car on a five-lap run round the iconic circuit for the crowd's viewing pleasure.
This promises to be some spectacle, too - not just because the T.50's reputation is already bursting from the seams, but because the manufacturer's most recent video confirms that the Cosworth-built 3.9-litre V12 makes a staggering sound at 12,100rpm.
The man doing the driving at Millbrook proving ground is Dario Franchitti, and while he's obviously being paid for his time, his reaction to an early go in GMA's mule seems genuine enough - mostly because it involves a lot of giggling. Also when a man of Franchitti's experience says it is 'the best engine he's ever driven', it's probably worth taking note.
Moreover, of course, this just the beginning. The 'George' prototype is very much an engine testbed only - it's so limited that Gordon Murray doesn't properly fit inside - so there is much work still to do on properly incorporating it into the T.50. But the sight and sound of the four-time Indy champ working up through the (gloriously) manual gearbox is certainly worth clicking play for. Or making your way along to the West Sussex, should you be lucky enough to have a ticket.
