Ford's release around this Ranger Raptor police car is refreshingly brief - just the 138 words, including mention of the very cool Focus ST Estate that's also coming - but comes with 20 lovely photos. Point surely being, therefore, that ogling the images will get the message across just fine. It's hard to disagree...
Basically, it's the Ford Ranger Raptor we know and have come to admire, made fit for police service; even with the standard - and slightly breathless - powertrain left alone, Ford says the truck "has more than enough to keep up with crims making a getaway across gravel, mud and sand." Hence South Wales being among the first to put it to the test, given how rural the area is - what better vehicle to police it than a go-anywhere truck?
Both the Ranger and the Focus (isn't it nice to see the tradition of fast Ford estates in the forces continue?) have been built by Ford's Special Vehicle Preparation team in Essex. Trials for the Focus are already underway, with the Raptor set to follow soon. We can't wait to see them strutting their stuff on the road - as long as they're after someone else, that is...
