Given the trials and tribulations associated with running a car company - especially an Italian one - it's a miracle that any of them make it to a centenary. The hurdles faced by Alfa Romeo since the early 20th century make its venerable age seem even more of an achievement - and now it has another important birthday to chalk up: June 24th, 2020 marks 110 years of Alfa Romeo.
To mark the occasion, the museum at Arese will reopen with more to see than ever before. Visitors will not only see Giulia GTA in public for the first time, previously concealed areas will open up more than 150 additional Alfas for viewing; cars that were part of private collections, things like the Caimano and Proteo concepts plus prototypes like the Scrabble and Sprint 6C, will be on display. Not only that, but a new section of the museum is welcoming visitors for the first time as well: 'Alfa Romeo in Uniform' section celebrates the cars as police vehicles. And not just when they're chasing Minis on the top of the Fiat building...
If that wasn't enough, Alfa has also commissioned some birthday presents for itself to mark 110 as well. So there's the new Compagnia Ducale Anniversary e-MTB, with a livery created by Alfa Romeo Stile, a limited-edition chronograph from Eberhard and Co. as well as an apparel collection from Audes Group.
Finally, for those that can't make it to the museum at the moment (for obvious reasons) or stretch to a Swiss watch, Alfa is bringing the celebration to you. At 14:30 today, the 110th anniversary will be marked with a livestreamed event straight from Arese. It can be viewed here this afternoon. Happy Birthday Alfa Romeo!
