Here's another one of those fantastic car videos that deserves many, many thousands more views. Currently it's languishing on just over 2,000, which is most disappointing for a vid of this quality that's been live for nearly a year.
Why's it so good? Oh, let's see. We have a manual, V12 Ferrari, a Goodwood Revival race (in the rain; at dusk) and a driver absolutely determined to travel as quickly as possible. Which, as it transpires, is also as sideways as is possible. Jolly good....
The oversteer on display here really is exceptional, with the added peril/kudos of a race situation, very limited visibility and the considerable value of the car. There's one point where seemingly the whole of Madgwick is crossed up, then the double apexed Lavant made into one long drift; heck, the Ferrari's even getting a wiggle on down the pit straight.
It's compelling viewing, driver Christophe Van Riet revelling in the challenge and displaying some considerable skill in keeping the SWB pointing in (mostly) the right direction. The noise, as you've probably guessed, is just fabulous too.
And we're a month away from it all happening again! This year's Revival now has Emanuele Pirro, Richard Attwood, Gabriele Tarquini, Derek Bell, Jochen Mass and Nicholas Minassian confirmed to race, with a whole host more besides. Expect plenty more PH coverage over the next few weeks, including a livestream on the weekend itself. For now, enjoy a Ferrari going more sideways than you ever thought possible!
