Traditional AMG products have a distinctive attitude about them; if you were to personify them as someone wielding a weapon, they would be using the bludgeon rather than the razor - the job will be done, just not all that precisely. This CLS55 AMG can be counted amongst those. The supercharged 5.4-litre V8 has over 500lb ft of torque from so low down that it can strain the traction control at pretty much any speed especially in this cold, wet weather.
'Andy43' went for he believes is the "classier" early design of CLS55 AMG after selling his BMW 3 Series Touring and he wanted a spec that would hold its own among other silver Mercedes models. Boy did he get one! Designo Mystic Red paint that is said to change appearance from a bright red in direct sunlight to a blue-aubergine colour in the shade certainly stands out. Inside, the colours are just as fantastic with dark red leather seats, Alcantara headlining and maple grain wood on the fascia.
When the owner started using the car, he realised the old 5-speed automatic was not as dim-witted as first thought, helping keep that true muscle car feel. Right down to the 13mpg...
Andy43 admits to not have used full throttle yet, but then we don't really blame him in these conditions. The car apparently steams past most traffic barely having to stress the engine anyway... A couple of mods are due including lowering the suspension and adding aluminium gearchange paddles. Might we suggest an exhaust upgrade, too?
