There's an argument to say that both generations of Porsche 997 GT3 are highpoints for the motorsport-inspired 911. Not only do they retain relatively compact dimensions, hydraulic steering and the Mezger engine, they're just accommodating enough to be more usable than the air-cooled cars. But what if they could yet be improved upon?
PHer M32GER - clearly a Porsche fan - already has previous with modified Porsches, having tweaked his previous 997 Carrera. Now in possession of 997.1 GT3, he has set about creating his dream 911 project.
The result is, in our opinion at least, absolutely fantastic. You can read every last dorky detail - including a weight record for each modification - in the 18-page thread, but the main changes are a Viper Green respray, a stripped out and track ready interior, a carbon roof panel, polycarbonate windows, an Akrapovic exhaust, single mass flywheel and a set of gorgeous BBS LM wheels. The total weight saving is in the region of 100kg, giving ME2GER and his GT3 a useful advantage over standard cars at his local Yas Marina circuit.
Unsurprisingly the response from PHers has been very positive so far. If anything though this GT3 deserves even more attention, so it's getting 15 minutes of fame on the PH homepage, and it's well worth setting some time aside over the weekend to enjoy every little detail of this Porsche. Congratulations M32GER on a great idea and project - we look forward to seeing what comes next!
