I've been discussing this with AngryApples. Every year I've been to a Gorge meet in April it's been ok. Chinese GP and people travelling from further afield restricts any change somewhat.

CHANGE OF TIME - 10 AM

Having deliberated with AngryApples, we both think that a change of time is necessary to accommodate so many cars.

We will start meeting at 10am, but anyone coming later should be able to slot in. The meet normally lasts about 2 hours so there will be plenty of time for them to look around the cars.

I hope everyone understands. It could have turned out fine at 11, but I don't think it's worth taking the chance.

So... MEET AT 10AM

UPDATE ON ATTENDANCE LIMITATION

I never want to stop people coming who really wish to, but, because the gorge is a tourist location, I felt the reins needed pulling in a bit to avoid an enormous parking problem.

The gorge is a popular place for Pistonheads (and other car) events and the last thing we should do is jeopardise either the name of Pistonheads or the future use of the gorge, which could happen if the public - who are spending money in the gorge - are inconvenienced and complain.

Now the start time is earlier...

If you are not on the list and want to come, you are very welcome but I must stress the following:

• Not everyone will be able to park together - we will need to make use of all the space in each car park, so be aware you may be blocked in during the meet.

• Please don't park on the road, or block non-PH cars from leaving or entering car parks.

• I suggest we spread into car parks going up the gorge (away from the village) if possible, to avoid taking up the car parking most suitable for families visiting the caves and shops.

• Please do not 'spread the word' to clubs outside of Pistonheads, to avoid an unknown number of additional cars turning up.

• Remember, parking is £4.

• Most importantly, have fun and talk st about cars!

There's no harm in trying it.

Usually the first few tests draw a crowd, from which other people ask for a test and we'll just move from car to car in each car park. Someone will be writing down reg numbers and results, and when everyone who wants a test has had one, we give out the trophies and probably include a bottle of wine or something for the winner too.

It's all just an added bit of fun alongside the meet.

Hopefully the gorge people won't have a problem with it, but if they do we'll just have to knock it on the head.
