Video: M3 GTS On Track

More footage shows GTS up close and sideways

BMW has released a new video showing the lightweight M3 GTS in action.

The hardcore M3 GTS, whose body mods have apparently been inspired by the 320si WTCC car, was announced last week but with limited detail and only a short 'teaser' video in which to glimpse its be-spoilered and very-orange form.

Happily, this latest slick reel is a longer 2-part edit, showing more detailed close-ups and footage of the car in action on track. The first part is even set to a Yazoo-esque synth pop soundtrack - what more could you ask for on a grey Monday?

According to BMW, part of the GTS's raison d'être is to beat the M3 CSL's best time at the Nürburgring. We feel another video coming on...

Looks good to me, particularly like the shot at 3m12s on the second vid!

I'll have mine in black with a manual box (if they were offering one & if I had £100K...)

I don't honestly know how people cannot like this car -It's insane

A big pat on the back to BMW for making it.

I'll get flamed for this but just not sure about the rear spoiler, could'nt even tell you why really, functional enough yes, just doesn't look GT3RS enough.

I don't think it's the car, so much as the price!!! I would love one of these! But I could think of a few other cars I'd rather spend 6 figures on!

True.

But price is irrelevant on most supercars/insane track beasts and stuff anyway - the majority of people can't afford them.

People should concentrate on the car, instead of being so bleeding negative about the figures.

The spoiler is exactly that, it spoils the car. So unecessarily garish! Look how sutble and awesome the csl looks, what was wrong with that approach.

It's like the spoiler on the new gt3rs, it ruins an otherwise really nice car.

And the price is ludicrous. Maybe you can concentrate on the figures but for people like me that would actually like to buy this if it was priced sensibly, it's a bit of talking point!

Its funny how this never changes, the fact that people will mock the price even though they are driving around in st boxes. I have a st box but can appreciate these exciting cars without bashing the price.

If I had 100K i'd probably have a GTR and an Audi oil burner of some sort but why does that matter? It should not be used to slate cars IMO

This car is fantastic, I am not sure if i'd prefer the CSL though. I prefer the sound of the straight 6 tbh.

I'm hardly slating it!!!! I would love one of these! But without driving one or owning it, I'm finding it hard to justify that price. The CSL for instance was a bit keen.. and this is almost double! Oh and my 3 series is NOT a st box!shoot

What a great car and some very nice videos, though I was a bit let down by the lack of sideways, tyre destroying nonsense.

I'll take mine in black please. Thanks.

The car looks great, I'd consider one if I had the money, which I don't.

What skyline crazy said!

I'm a fan if i was honest, people wanted a more hardcore e92 M3 and got one. Its nice to know BMW still care about enthusiasts (rich ones anyways), but in my eyes if the tech in it and the performance match the GT3 RS or any other 100k car foor that matter it doesn't matter if its a rover 75.

An interesting car, genuine competitor to the GT3RS.. probably not no, but maybe the ultimate FR track toy on the market today?

For the sake of progress, a car with more power, with a better power-to-weight ratio, and costing a heck of a lot more, I should certainly hope it's faster...

Could a photoshop monkey make this the silver/grey CSL colour and remove the spoiler ?

Nice bark to the engine.

Really?!?! If you had £100k to spend on a car, you'd buy this?

Flame me for turning into a grumpy old man, or caring about the credit crunch but when you forking out £100k you kinda expect a supercar (think Lambo/Ferrari etc) or something that makes you drool! When i saw the M3 i drooled, but to turn out the same car with added bits that dont make it that much better and then charge £100k+ for it?!?!? Sorry Its not for me.

Money is a differentiator in arguments like these much in the same way bhp or top speed is. When you can get something such as (see below) for half the price, you gotta ask questions.

See Catherham Levante, the Ariel Atom 500 (120k for an Atom with a V8, most of them already sold) etc.

Why would you compare a seriously stripped out BMW race car, to a comfortable, GT car such as the GTR? Totally different markets.

I bet all the GTSs sell, and I'd also be inline for one if i had 100k to spend on a car.

Although if I had that much to spend on a car, I'd probably already have a GTR and a Lambo etc etc..

I take your point about 'drooling' but I like my cars to mean business, I'm not fussed about extravagant looks. Actually I prefer understated menace.

Anyway, I'm just glad that cars like this exist - it's nice for those with the money to have the choice.
