Mercedes-Benz Offer: Unique SLS Experiences

Update: win a 200km blast in Mercedes' AMG range (yup, including the SLS)

An SLS. Although not in Germany...
An SLS. Although not in Germany...
Win a 200km blast in Mercedes' AMG range:

AMG's 'rare experience' giveaway is continuing, and the latest chance to join in the SLS AMG-shaped fun comes with what Mercedes calls an 'AMG Emotion Tour' (no, we're not quite sure what that means either).

Ignoring the odd terminology, what this actually means in practice is that Mercedes is offering one person (and a friend) a chance to take a range of AMG cars (including the £157k SLS AMG, natch) on a 200km blast across Germany. Nice.

As well as this, there will be a tour of Merc's Sindelfingen Centre of Excellence (like Mercedes-Benz world only more so), and a trip to see AMG engines being handbuilt at the company's Affalterbach facility.

It's not a bad prize considering all you have to do is spare a few minutes to watch this promotional video...

...and when you get behind the wheel of the SLS, you can even pretend you're David Coulthard on the Isle of Man (though we doubt you'd have a 3D camera car to chase...)

Previous experiences:

Win a factory tour and test drive in the SLS AMG supercar

It's Mercedes SLS AMG 'Rare Experience' time again, folks.

This time it's a chance to win an exclusive guided tour of the AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany - a rare experience indeed. You'll also get the opportunity to actually drive the SLS AMG supercar itself (not a bad adjunct to a factory tour, we'd say) after you've seen it being built.

Oh and we mustn't forget to mention - Mercedes will also be throwing in a two-night hotel stay for you and a partner/friend/mistress/other, a visit to the famous Mercedes-Benz museum and a complimentary dinner for two.

You'll need to be free from 3rd to 5th August 2010, and you can enter the competition up until 19th July. To do so, you'll need to visit your nearest Mercedes-Benz retailer and take a close look at the SLS AMG 'Astonishing Power' poster inside to find the hyperlink required to enter the competition online.

Or you can simply find the poster online here (we make it too easy don't we?).

Win an AMG Advanced Training Course at the famous Spa circuit

Want to give the SLS gravy at Spa?
Want to give the SLS gravy at Spa?
Mercedes-Benz has alerted us to its next 'Rare Experience', which is an amazing opportunity to put the SLS AMG Gullwing and other AMG machinery through their paces at the legendary Spa Francorchamps racetrack.

To be in with a chance of winning it, they tell us, you'll need to look out for the SLS AMG outdoor posters between 23 June and 4 July. Take a closer look at the small print and you may discover a hidden link. Simply follow it to be entered into the draw, or you can view the posters online by visiting the relevant section on their promotional website.

One lucky person and a guest spectator will get the chance to fly out to Belgium for an exclusive three day AMG Advanced training course at the famous circuit. The winner and a guest spectator will also be provided with first-rate accommodation and dining throughout their stay. Arriving the day before the experience (17 July), the winner and guest will have a three-night stay in the hotel and food/drink overnight.

The winner and their nominated guest must be able to travel on 17 and 20 July 2010, so to find out more about this once in a lifetime opportunity click here.

Take the SLS AMG for a virtual spin on Gran Turismo 5 at Mercedes-Benz World for a chance to drive it for real

You may remember our article a couple of weeks ago offering the chance to win a ride in a Merc SLS AMG with one Mr D Coulthard (if you don't you can refresh your memory below). It was the first in a series of 'Rare Experiences' centred around the new SLS supercar.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is Rare Experience number two: by visiting Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, you can take the wheel of a virtual SLS AMG on the Nürburgring in the exclusive Gran Turismo 5 'pods'. Give your details and lap time to a member of the team, then visit www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/gt5 and enter your number to see if you're one of the 100 fastest lap times (hint - we're told the current fastest time is 7mins 40secs, so you'll have to get close to that to be in with a shot).

The top three will have the chance to get behind the wheel of the SLS AMG for real. As will two more lucky players chosen at random from the next 97 fastest laps. Their guests will also enjoy a short passenger ride.

Anyone can drive the SLS AMG virtually at Mercedes-Benz World, with the competition open to all residents, aged 25 or over, of the UK until 23rd July. For full terms and conditions see here.

Other exclusive experiences will include driving the 6.3-litre V8-engined, 571 hp SLS AMG around famous European racetracks including Hockenheim and Spa and tackling the famous Top Gear test track. Only a lucky few will be given the opportunity to enjoy these experiences.

If you want a shot at any of these, start by visiting slsamg.mercedes-benz.co.uk. Here you'll find hints for where to start looking for other rare experiences, as well as be able to sign up for updates via e-mail, SMS, Facebook and Twitter.

Find out more about the SLS AMG online, plus unique Driving Experiences you can win

PistonHeads has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to give you some exceptional 'money can't buy' chances to experience its new supersports car - the incredible SLS AMG.

Coming in the next few months, we’ll be offering experiences such as driving the new 6.3-litre V8-engined, 571 hp SLS AMG around famous European racetracks including Hockenheim and Spa, tackling the famous Top Gear test track at Dunsfold - and unique SLS AMG driving days at PH favourite Mercedes-Benz World. As you would expect, these experiences will only be available to a small number of people, so make sure you keep an eye on PH for the latest information.

Subtle links to a number of 'rare chances to experience the SLS AMG' entry forms are hidden on the internet and out in the ‘real world’, and they can only be found by looking a little deeper into the SLS AMG online…

The first Rare Experience being offered is a chance to be driven in the SLS AMG by David Coulthard and it's live now. It can be found on youtube and underneath it is the link gord241.co.uk, so type it into your browser and you’re in with a chance.

You can keep up to date with all the other activity and upcoming Rare Experiences on the official SLS AMG website as well as being able to sign up for updates via email, SMS, Facebook and Twitter.

PH has featured the new SLS AMG several times already, and it’s fair to say that we are huge fans of the car. It’s unusual in that it is the first car to be developed entirely in-house by the experts at the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz, AMG. Launching in the UK on 1 July with a 0-62 mph time of just 3.8 seconds and a top speed that is electronically limited to 197 mph, we think this is the most exciting Mercedes-Benz in a long time. To be in with a chance of being amongst the first people in the world to drive it, keep an eye on this forum over the coming months.

If this is designed to atract SLS buyers as the blurb from Mercedes suggests, it's so far off course it's beached in Slough. I don't have time to trawl through internet experiences and search for hidden signs. I'm not Indiana Jones and online gaming isnt my generation. Sorry.

Absolutely hopeless approach.

If PH has "teamed up with Mercedes Benz" on this one then someone didn't do their homework....

As I understand it's not really aimed at buyers as such (although I'm sure they wouldn't mind if it did) more to general enthusiasts of the car itself who want to win the opportunity to drive it, or simply learn more about it.

In all honesty, some of the upcoming prizes offered are bloody good (Euro trips, factory tours etc) but if it's not for you then it's not for you. They can't make you enter if you don't want to smile

I can't understand what all the complaining is about.

PH has published a web address which takes you straight to a competition with a bloody good prize.

Don't like it? Don't enter. Higher possibility of me winning.

There is another comp coming up to win a drive of the SLS at Mercedes- Benz World. Oddly enough it involves the GT5 pods we used for the recent PH comp.

Gran Turismo 5 - what a joke. This was supposed to be released as a launch title for the PS3 4 years ago and we are still waiting!

It's a bugger of a job to get a good time on this game. I crashed so hard and so often, the rear bumper was hanging off, and the front came up in a wheelie down the straights. The representative from Merc World said he'd never seen that before.

I was a little bit proud.

MB do alot of work trying to gain customers by offering them a glimpse of the brand that they can touch and feel and be inspired by.

Will someone in the market now for an SLS be swayed by a computer game or competition? No. But the experience or just giving a 5 series owner an excuse to visit MB world, maye convince a 5-series owner to make an E class their next car.

Same reason they offer lessons in A-classes to under 16s, theyre trying to get people on board from a young age or switch people across using MB world and these competitions as olive branches. They want MB customers for life, whether they are choosing a company motorway hack or win the lottery. But many people think MB is out of their reach. This tempts them to try reaching.

I think.

It really does remind of the new Z4 from the back and in a 3/4 profile.

I entered the competition and got their brochure and price list yesterday. Its a lovely thing, but the price list shoes a basic price, plus VAT and road tex. Turn the page over, and you pay extra for paint (??), then you pay extra for leather seat coverings, when there isnt a cloth option???

In other words, you pay the price, then pay extra to have it pianted and trimmed. never heard of that before...

This car, especially the front of it, is damn ugly. At 157k you'd want to turn back and admire it's aesthetics, this just doesn't do it for me...frown

Thanks for the heads up. Working away from home doesn't help when you need to go into a dealer to look at posters.

Saw the SLS at Goodwood, Looks take a bit of getting used to, but it sounds fantastic.
