Here's One I Made Earlier

Italian man builds his own supercar from scratch

Better than your average kit car?
Better than your average kit car?
We are used to taking the term ‘hand built’ with a handful of salt these days.

Often it can be pretty far removed from screwing together every nut and bolt with just a spanner and a set of bleeding knuckles for company.

But an Italian man really has built his own supercar all by himself – including every detail, from the car’s brakes to the suspension.

OK, so he sourced the car’s 4.2 litre from an Audi, but that is the only part he didn’t build himself.

The car is finished in De Lorean-style bare metal and although it may not be up there with Zagato’s best, for something he put together himself it’s not half bad.

It is called Uragano, which apparently is not a type of herb, but actually means 'Hurricane' in Italian.

Rumour has it the car may be fitted with a turbocharger (I don’t think he made that either) but the whole thing has been made from scratch in just four years.

Pretty impressive…

'Rumour has it that it may be fitted with a turbocharger' lol, I guess that's kinda sarcasm, given the size of that beastly turbo!!! Is it off of a truck?

Pretty impressive, I wonder what the performance is like. Not sure on the looks though, reminds me of something off that chopshop programme on discovery channel.

I like it, apart from that awkward bow in the rear panel.

Looks not unlike a Corvette (in a good way), would probably be better if he painted it, although I'm not sure which colour would suit it.

It's a stainless steel Testarossa isn't it?! Great effort.

Impressive stuff. Well done that man. I think the car doesn't look too bad but the side intakes don't go with the rest of the car all that well imo.

I think if I'd have gone to all that effort I might have wanted a better finish in the exterior surface! That rear corner looks like it's been in an accident!

Cheers,

FT.

Impressive, that turbo is obscene. I wonder if he's wind-tunnel tested it, I'm guessing it's probably fast enough to take off if the aero is wrong eek

Agreed on the 'vette & paint.

Before I read the article I tought it was a modified corvette.

Rear looks like it came straight out of an '80s futuristic show smile.

A fantastic achievement no doubt but I can't believe that no body has yet mentioned the lack of paint/powder coat or whatever on the space frame!, surely it is in this state just to demonstrate the mans abilities and will be stripped and painted in due course?

Anyone else spot what looks like a DeLorean in the background of one of the pics? Maybe that's not actually a turbo, but is in fact a... Flux Capacitor!

It'd never get SVA approval in the UK - the headlights are way too low.

Is there not an SVA type test in other European countries?

Awesome! I sometimes wish that I had the time, space, materials and vast amounts of skill required to do this. Then I remember that I just don't!

Well there is only 1 turbo for what I presume is the 4.2L Audi V8, so I guess it would need to be pretty large to flow enough air all by itself, Audi have used twin turbos when they turbocharged that engine from the factory.

It could look quite nice finished off, needs a jolly good paint inside and out. Bloody good effort, i am sure there are plenty of people that can; do this sort of thing, but it takes a special type to actually do.... Bravo!

He quite clearly didn't "build" the suspension himself. He may have made the wishbones himself, but he clearly bought the shocks and springs. I'll bet he didn't "build" his brake callipers himself either or the wheels.

I don't really see why this car is any more remarkable than any other home built car.
