Loon would give advice based on facts. Somone with zero knowledge would argue that he was wrong based on opinion. Loon would give some blunt responses. Some people would get offended.

After a while loon stopped posting so all you have now its the opinionated.

We have lost a few actual experts like this. For every 1 expert we have 100 people willing to shout them down.
Thanks for that.

What a shame frown

His advice has worked for me in the past. He most definitely knew/knows his stuff...

People do get very annoyed with actual experts telling them the rubbish they've believed for years is.....well rubbish.

Especially so re insurance, where people feel comfortable believing nonsense. When the facts are explained, they get very irate.

Is it true that his insurance will increase even if he is not at fault.
Possibly, depending on his insurer. Yours may go up too, but that depends on your insurer. It may go up a bit for a while or it may even go down.

You can be educational and factual without being a bellend.

Loon didn't quite get this.

Also Loony told it how it should have been. Sometimes that isn't how it turns out. Certainly not at first.

If he has gone for good then that will be a shame.

Loon was quite abrasive and was also quick to call others back if his ( extensive) experiences didn't match with other's experience.
But he did have a lot of knowledge and was hardly ever proved wrong.
Was it loon who was always asking for proof of anyone who ever got nicked for doing less than 10mph over the limit?

I did six weeks in a call centre at a time when all insurance brokers had a name beginning with A ( because of listings in yellow pages) but post on insurance very infrequently, unless I have specific knowledge of something.

Or I've had a beer or 2 and feel like speculating or expressing an opinion smile

On this occasion, I've not had a beer, but have an opinion.

OP -It's your decision based on your feel for the situation.
If you claim Your NCD will go down to 3 years next year.
But you will be covered against further claims if they should arise.

I'm not sure if your NCD will go down if you report but don't claim. Common sense says no, but I don't know the answer.

Because he was very knowledgeable about insurance matters, Loon for some reason assumed that it entitled him to behave with impunity like a total strap-on to everyone who asked insurance-related questions.

He finally discovered to his cost that this wasn't the case.

I miss his answers because he was entertaining and actually knew a lot. But it isn't in any way surprising. He was an example of the way some parts of PH have gone in the last couple of years with people being bellends for no particular reason.
