Excited to see this. Had a luverly brochure through the post recently, saw the road car and emailed some bloke in charge of Ginetta sales. He must've thought I was a WOFT-er as he said Ginetta only make one road car and neglected to even try to explain why I had a luverly brochure, nor that the G40 was coming soon.
Be good to get to drive it, although lnt you might want to have a word with the sales geezer and explain not to p*ss off prospective customers!

I'm sorry to hear about your less than satisfactory phone call with our sales team, I assure you this would not be the norm and we are sorry for any misunderstandings. If there is anything we can help you with please let me know. In the meantime I thought you may like a recent picture of the prototype LT mentioned.
Warm regards

sadly I can't link the rest of the pictures directly, so here and look for more interior pictures, looks good.

The only thing I don't like is the gaitor.
thats indeed a bit strange...maybe we will be getting used to it?the track car has that open, its different, I don't find it ugly and I don't find it beautiful, have to see it when I sit in the car
I don't see that happen anytime soo though here in NL
I'm surprised so many people think the road car is taking a long time. Although many of the desirable attributes are the same, the emphasis for a road legal car is very different to that of a pure race car and it takes time to sort out these issues. Lotus, TVR, Noble and Aston have all fallen foul of getting a car in the market that is under-developed, and the reputation is very hard to shake once its there.
Really obscure details can result in major safety issues if neglected, such as carpet fibres jamming up the handbrake cables leading to hot roll away (Aston), petrol filling creating an electrostatic spark across the fuel filler leading to... (new Mini) and 12.9 grade nuts and bolts used in safety systems which suffer hydrogen embrittlement and end up failing in low-cycle fatigue (Ford, GMC and many others).
It takes a lot of thought, experience and/or testing to mitigate these failures in the design/manufacturing stages and I for one would rather see a safe and reliable road going G40 in 12 months time than lemon next week. I'm sure like many others, I would like Ginetta to be around in its new form for a long time to come.

I popped in to the factory yesterday to have a look at the car.
Wow. Very nice indeed. A very warm welcome too, even had a chat with LNT himself!
I think they're gonna have a winner on their hands to be honest...
Wow! ...be interested to hear more about what you saw / heard. Did you see any road legal G40s? I pass the factory twice a day but have never seen any mileage accumulation or test cars running on the surrounding roads.Wow. Very nice indeed. A very warm welcome too, even had a chat with LNT himself!

I know there is one Road going G40 in existance, but I'm disappointed you didn't see any test cars or at least some daily drivers in the car park being run by staff. I appreciate the race cars will validate the rolling chassis to an extent, but there is so much on a road car that can cause major recalls that never get used on a race car.
Lets hope they're not adopting the TVR design approach of "customer durability". I think what they have acheived so far is amazing and genuinely hope the road cars will be a permanent feature of the business. Did you see any test facilities at all at the factory?

"10 new road car chassis have been produced and will form the initial run of pre-production prototypes for evaluation and final testing."
Sounds really encouraging and makes a refreshing change for a low volume marque. With all the data gleaned from running 10 dedicated test cars as well as a level of vertical integration from the GT, LMP and the Farbio acquisition, the odds are in favour of G40 quality not being a problem at Job1.
Combined with an evolution of the track car styling plus some unique engineering features, I reckon it'd be just the right formula to carve out a 1000+/annum niche, no problem.... Can't wait to see them on the road!
