I've always felt like I was sat too high in the Tuscan seats, so I was considering swapping them for the Tamora seats that appear to be thinner in the seat pan area. Then I thought I might be able to adjust the foam thickness in the removable wedge/seat pan. I tried removing the wedge but that was not comfortable as it cut off the blood to my lower leg and feet.
I therefore ordered some medium firmness upholstery foam in 1", 1.5" and 2". Having tried the thinest one and seen no detriment to the vision out of the cabin and it seemed quite comfortable, I've cut open the stitching at the rear of the seat wedge and removed the old foam. The foam removed was very dense compared to that that I have bought. I'll have to see how the long distance comfort is affected before I sew up the wedge's leather.

Check out the differences in visibility out of the cabin as seen from my right eye's position between the original wedge in, no wedge/old wedge out and the new foam in. I'm 6ft and was quite comfortable with the seat back inclination and the position of the pedals and gear knob but I always had to move my head forwards in the cabin to look upwards at traffic lights. Has anyone else thought the seat position was too high for them? This seems like and easy mod that anyone can have a go at.

I sat in a Tuscan at some 'meeting' and also in a Griffith with Tuscan seats but with a lowered part.
Its indeed as many say, it feels like you sit on the seat instead of in the seat, very disappointing when you expect fine seats by the look of them.
The Special lowered Tuscan seats in the Griffith though you really sit in, instead of on, different padding etc.

I'd like to know more about these lowered seats. Can you give me a contact name?

On my previous tyscan I cut some of the foam away from behind the seat back's plastic cover. You push you knee into the seat back whilst brandishing an electric carving knife and you can remove about 1.5" from the Middle 50% of the lumbar region and hey presto, you sit in the seat as opposed to on it.

There are more who did such thing, but those are from Onno, he's also on PH, although his seats were very expensive, but thats another story, it can be made way cheaper of course, anyways here a link in English with the short story>

I take your points. I like to sit high. One get's a better view of the apex for fast cornering and overtaking. Rally drivers Loeb and co know this .hence they do not compete in low slung sports cars. Souped up popular high seat family hatches make :superior rally cars. TVRs are best on a track and sprints. No worries about bum bruises there. smilesmile:

In my mk2 cerb with the Tuscan seats I've driven it with both the cushion in and out. I find the seat better hugging when the cushions removed and not so supportive with it in. Eye position I don't find bad either way

I prefer the driving position with the seat cushion removed as I like to sit low. I had a couple of pads made by John the trim technician at about 10 mm thick for me and a thicker one for my wife so she can see out better.
John matched the leather with the existing pad
Works a treat and as above I find the side cushions hold you in position better with thinner or no pads

John put a layer of memory foam in mine when I had them retrimmed. It means you sink into the seat a bit more which, combined with the alcantara centres, keeps you better in place.

I like the look of those reworked seats.
