Has anyone any amusing tale's about people trying to out accelerate them and the like's, in what normally would be a quick car but against a Tiv is not!

I have the opposite. If I am next to a wide boy in for example a capri 2.8i or such like then I will let him think that I am going to blow him away from the lights butin the end I will let him go for it and I will trundle off (in my cerbera) from the lights ie why waste my time, effort and money on an oik.

Last summer I had 2 lads in a fur-war-ri 355 spider try to give it large away from the lights, thought it would be close, and it was, but they came 2nd then just to add insult to injury I did the same at the next set of lights 500 yards up the road, with a group of lads egging us on out side a chip shop, all very irresponsable but great fun, then last week had a 10 mile tussel with a BMW 850i CSI had him off the line and round the bends but no chance when he'd got some momentum, not sure on speeds (see pessamistic speedo thread)

I have the opposite again.

Driving a mate in my S3C (decatted) to Brands Hatch a few years back, exited a roundabout alongside a wide-boy Fiat Uno Turbo. We both nailed it along the dual carriageway that followed, me expecting to leave said Uno for dust and show off to my mate - and my S couldn't keep up. Embarassed? Yep, you bet I was.

I'm sure my current Golf GTi is quicker off the mark than many TVR's.

What is the speed of an 850i? I know they are quick but, I thought the Chimaera would have seen him off!

Well I saw the lad at the local bike hangout on Sunday (2 islands with a bit of duel carrageway between them) he said his passenger had seen 155mph on the speedo, on the limiter then
ps
His mate with an Evo VI was a compette nutter, running rings round the bikers

I once out accelerated and drove an Audi TT(don't know which flavour it was!)in the MGF. But the meat head driving it was not very happy when we stopped at the next set of lights! By the time he had squeezed his fat ar5e out of his car though, the lights had changed and I just pi55ed all over him again! Fat t055er!

Why do muppets do that?? if you are willing to race why get the arse when you lose?? There is link road in Watford (for those that drive there it's the one that comes off the M1 and leads under the railway brige towards Tesco) not a real speed test - just manged 120 in a 993 911 - but the road has some good fast sweeping bends with one or two interesting cambers the number of times i have caned much more powerful cars then than the puma or s40 T4 that i have (only because i know the road very well) then the person gets the ump and gets out the car wanting a ruck - pricks or what !!! if you race learn to take a beating if not stay in lane one and trundle along !!

Normaly have a thing for 911's and sports bikes
But on Saturday just as I was turning round after pulling of my drive to go visit my petrol dealer 2 lads in a S2000 pull in behind me and blatantly indicate that they are up for it and tell me drive the other way, (long windy A road) unfortunatly had to decline the kind offer as I was running on 'eau de petrol' at the time,
God this threads making me sound like a right road racer

I use to have good fun pi55ing off the MAX'd boys and girlz in my Evo IV too! Had a couple of close ones with the old Subaru's too! I've calmed down loads recently can't afford any more license cock-ups if you know what I mean! The MGF makes me laugh! I think some people just don't realise that with the few mods that I've done, it is now quite a fast little car and has a but more kick than the usual hairdresser brigade!

Simpo - nicely.
Completely missed that one!!

Tales:

Escort full of drugged children. A red one, with a HUGE spoiler, maybe there were two, I didn't study the back for that long..
Shot passed me on the M6, windows open, stereo on, then slowed right down - the shorthaired meercats inside then all stared at the car blankly and started to move away, then slowed up again and moved away slowly.
This was fine and very amusing, I was doing a constant 70 (yes really - it was sunny and the roof was off..), 'till a couple of them started spitting out of the window - evasive action required!!
Slowed right up waited for them to dissapear into horison then had one of my rare Fk that moments.
Must've passed them...

..very, very quickly.

Those old Griff speedo's don't go up that high do they?

There was an old 2CV that use to blast up Westgate Road in Newcastle! I don't know what he using but christ it could really shift!
Do you think I should cancel my order and go for a Morris Minor......?

Sat behind a Merc CLK 430 on Sunday about to join the M25 at junction 6 in my Chim 4.0HC. Unfortunately, it had just rained. Chap in the Merc floored it as the lights went green so I pulled away and then put my foot down. Had to feather the throttle slightly as I hit the slip road - lump in the road caused a bit of skitter and momentary wheelspin before hooking up again. Bloke in the Merc slowly pulled away...

Presume he just planted his foot from the lights and let the electronics sort him out... You have to be a bit more careful in the wet in a TVR!

A Merc CLK 430 is no slouch to start with - but it will have ESP (Electronic Stability Control) that cuts the ABS in on each wheel as it senses it losing grip - so maximum power is applied at all times.

By the way I work about 2 mins drive from jct 6...
