Snow lying on the roof is most likely due to temperature inside the house being the same inside as out. yikes

Bit protruding was added about 1890.

Interesting looking property. Is the whole detached building yours?

Moved in a year ago, we think built mid 1800s. One of the main beams in the house has the date 1743 carved in, but we think this may have been robbed recycled from an earlier house. Located in a small village just outside Newark, Nottinghamshire, which came as a bit of a shock after 10+ years of town/city centres.

Photo is fairly old, hedge has now grown nicely to give us a little more privacy.

It's currently on the market if anyone is looking! (Surrey).... please buy it because we are completing next week on this place (rather like gf15's pad!) and it needs rather a lot of work!

But we have a turret (sulking cave) so who cares about being sensible.

Newark is good. We visit about once per month. Small but good.

The first time I was called "Duck" by a local I was broken down on the motorway and it was a strapping big bear of an AA man. I was in fear for my virginity.

My little slice of heaven....

Lovely property. It's not in Kent is it? There's a house strikingly similar to this not 10 minutes from where I live...as a hopeful first time buyer this year, you guys have given me some real inspiration! Just need to find the right place to start amassing my property empire! biggrin
Thanks; not Kent, but on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Another couple of shots...in case anyone's interested.

no, nope, not interested at all... seriously not, hate it/you!!! (just kidding dude, your gaff looks lovely)

Interesting that you've used the agents photos rather than taking one of your own. wink

Nowhere near as grand as any of you guys but its starting to get where we want it.

And how it looked with the Pebbledash frown

Great work - similar to ours (also a project):

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 reception rooms, 80ft rear garden, extension to the rear and large parking area out the front.

Caravan has gone (was the previous owners), needs a lot of work inside: So far, re-done the family bathroom and decorated my little boy's room.

Plan:

  • Replace three windows upstairs (Landing and two rear bedrooms)
  • Have chimney taken out and re-plaster rooms upstairs
  • Extension on the front (remove porch and come out roughtly to the bottom step) and replace all windows at the front
  • Re-render the house
  • Loads of other bits and bobs
A bit of an update on our following the work completed last year:

Before:

During:

After:

Inside wise we've gone for a front door opening into the lounge, to re-instating the hallway:

@pinchmeimdreaming. Can I ask about the K Rend? Are you happy with it. Was it pricy? Did you put it on yourself? I'm considering something of that ilk as I hate pebble dash.

Should I have credited Fine & Country for the photos? It wasn't looking quite so good in February when I posted.

Sorry if you're a pro photographer and this goes against the grain.

I think that is poor form.

You won't get many people contributing to this thread if people start googling detailed locations and the price people have paid.

Agreed.

If someone posts their place and mentions it's on the market, but being a PHer they wouldn't dream of linking to an ad, then it's fine if someone else wants to track it down.

Otherwise, not on.

1970s drab I suppose but its a good size having been extended at the back. A 3 car drive (at a pinch) and a car port which leads through to a large garage. Used to be a double garage until I converted a third of it into my office/studio. Still have a decent garden space at the back looking out over open country too.

Not palatial by any means but its big enough for the 2 of us and its quiet.

Just for Zoon. Does that make you happier? Now you can see why I used the agent's photos.

Note to self; better tidy that garden. Can't believe how much it's grown in a year...
