Nonsense - the only reason he was bought was because there wasn't really a second proper striker, and if rumours are to be believed BR didn't even want him but settled since he wouldn't have had anyone else at all.
In fairness having Mario is like not having anyone else at all anyway so he would have been better off not spending the money in the first place, come on you know as well as I do that BR is a clown and only ended up with him because he is a yes man if the rumours are true then.

If you were the manager and couldn't buy the striker you wanted (Bony) would you avoid buying anyone if your strikeforce consisted of Sturridge (injury prone), Lambert (old) and Borini (who BR seems to hate judging by current use)? Or would you buy a big gamble in Mario? If he hadn't bought him and those three there would be a massive outcry that he should have bought at least someone, even if it was only Mario. Mario was most likely the lesser of two evils for BR.

Just saw Liverpool facebook page put up a story about Sterling and 39 other Liverpool players who shaved their hair... Nice priorities! (Yes, I am aware it is unlikely to be Brendan or one of the players writing it, wink). That said, I wonder if it's part of the excel sheet for rating potential transfers?

I think all the focus on Balo and Sturridge hides your real issues

Sturridge seems to have been transformed in LFC folklore from a talented young player to some sort of Ronaldo esque player who would solve all your ills should he return from injury. The simple fact is that the midfielders are also massively underperforming in the goals stakes.

Sturridge and Balo back doesn't mean they will perform if the midfield is woeful and not providing any service.

I think if we had movement up front with a bit of finishing it would help the whole team a lot. The problem is the midfield can have a lot more pressure on it because of the lack of threat up front, and there isn't any space for them to move into. That said, with the way BR wants to play football we need a more stable midfield. When players need to know where each other will run into/ pass quickly then they need time with each other, not a new setup each week. So assuming a more stable midfield, some time to gain confidence again and someone to put in a few goals up front I think a lot can improve. That's ignoring the defense though, which is a different question.

What is missed from an outsiders point is out midfield are good with space - Sterling, Coutinho, Gerrard etc -
Without a mobile forward they dont get it - thats why it was probably our best attacking performance this year against you as we had a mobile forward - having that creates gaps.

Ideally with DS forward and Sterling, coutinho and gerrard behind his movements creates gaps for them and his runs create options for SG
Take away the movement for DS AND LS and suddenly these players are half as good

Its so obvious when you go to watch them that Raheem and co are lacking that quality up front.

People are making it out that its just DS its not its any mobile striker -- without one its hindering our whole team going forward - even putting Sterling up there on Sunday showed the difference - moving CB's about the pitch creates space
Stick Mario up and Lambert up runs are easily track - no space - = ste going forward

I so would have gone with Kolo sakho and Skrtel here

subs: Mignolet, Lambert, Sakho, Moreno, Manquillo, Can, Borini: http://

I feel for Can - scores and has his best game against Chelsea then nowhere to be seen

confused

Dafuq?

The 3-7-0?

Others I take your point about it not being DS but a mobile striker, fair point.
