I have to say i'm interested about this car. Pistonheads did actually drive Sport 800 few years ago:

So it will seat four people if you can get your legs through the front seat and inside the person in front confused

I'm not particularly in to Japanese cars but really like the look of this. True back to basics motoring as its best. Would take one over a GT-86 I think

Well at least their pic is honest wink. No way four grown people will fit at all. But for kids, longer trips or for ferrying around a set of wheels...

It sure is. The pictures of the S-FR make it look small. I never remember the 924 being known as a small car - one for the classics dwarved by moderns thread! Oh and could you imagine this Toyota packing a three litre, four cylinder engine?
Just what I was going to post. The 924 certainly wasn't small back in the day, it may seem it now but so do most things from back then, even the Jensen Interceptor.
Yeah funny how perception changes. Never felt small inside or on the road back then. Three litre 4 pot certainly sounds fantastic, but I don't want to be the one starting the 'could use more ooomph' debate smile. Wishes: they actually make it, sell it in Europe and they start releasing more cars in that styling direction. Not holding my breath though...

Bump - ph search suggests this isn't doing the rounds elsewhere...

3 cylinder, 150bhp, release in 2026/7

Apparently the lights and front grill will be toned down...

I was also looking for a topic on this.

The picture above of the white car is some sort of Photoshop by a JDM tuner type. So not an accurate representation.

Almost 10 years have gone by since the concept, as below, which is shown at the start of this article.

In my opinion it looks awful. Very bad proportions and almost cartoon/Noddy like. Compared to the MX5, which is apparently the same kind of size, which is kind of handsome.

Hopefully they will make enough tweaks to make it more acceptable to a wider audience.

The white car is a racing concept by Toyota / Gazoo Racing:

Fair enough. My bad. But, it looks like every part that could be changed from the standard version, from head to toe, has been. I wouldn't say that is an accurate representation of what is to come, or even a productionised GR version.

100% agree, but would have been a great one make racing series on small circuits biggrin

I do hope we see a version of the sfr make production, the world needs more affordable sports cars.

It certainly does and I'd love to drive one being an MX5 owner...however, there are definitely issues with the styling of it, that will hold it back.

It looks cute. However, the vast majority of people don't want a "cute" car. More so (and shoot me for saying this, as it might not be totally PC) men, which make up half the population and are probably higher a percentage when looking for a sportscar, which I think this classifies as due to being FR.

Maybe it is different in Japan. I know they are probably more weaned in to the idea of cuteness, from Kei Car ownership and all things Hello Kitty.

If you look at the MX5 ND, it looks ok/ good, without being cute. This doesn't pull off that trick.

I hope they tweak a few design aspects to make it more appealing and I reckon a £23-25k price would be about right.

Well, I’ve owned 3x MX5’s - an NC PRHT, an ND RF, and now a turbocharged NA - and it’s the most “characterful” and arguably “cute” of them all.

Maybe I’m in touch with my feminine side, but it’s probably my favourite looking of the lot! Where do I hand in my man card? biglaugh

Well, you might not care and I don't think I would to a point, but...many people are image conscious. Especially the younger generation, who are the target market for a small sports car, who feed on a diet of big Audi grilles, razor sharp splitters and blacked out trim.
