The 4 door doesn't do anything for me. It looks like every other Aston of the past few years. No, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but there's hardly any real evolution in the shape, either.

I wanted to think 'Wow!' and couldn't.

looks boring anyone on here could have designed it by elongating a db9. would have been better to be a whole new design like the lambo prototype or the masser. yawn

Try thinking of it from another perspective. It may not contain "any real evolution in the shape", but they have managed to incorporate two more doors and all the associated space requirements to make a proper 4-door without making you look at it and go "Damn, it's as ugly as that there Panamera". Which would have been a disaster. All they've done is build on a successful design, and that's no real bad thing.

Couldn't give a flying fk that they just lengthened a DB9, that is one nice looking car.

It looks nice but still not a patch on the Quattroporte for me

The story refers to the Rapide having a selection of underbody trays for evaluation. My guess is these are linked to the rear end change to accomodate improvements to the rear diffuser ...

This is by far the best looking of the new 4 seater GT's IMO

Hopefully the LED's wont make production ... leave them for Audi to play with. Merc has just added them to the new E-class and I think they look aweful and spoil the front end. HID's with a matched single LED bulb for the sidelight is fine and avoids the 'yellow' sidelight effect with the nice clean headlight.

I wonder why they changed the rear plate position of the Rapide to match the V8, rather than the DB9 and DBS. I have a marginal rpefernce for the latter treatment.

I’d agree with that. The Quattroporte looks like a saloon and not a mutilated coupe. I don’t get the new trend with saloons trying to look like coupes, they just look all out of proportion and it just doesn't really work.

Any Estoque prototypes seen on the road yet? Are they even confirmed for production?

Is it still going to be made under contract in Austria or is now to built at Gaydon?

Follow this link and you will find that, sadly the Estoque has effectively been put on hold for the foreseeable future. My gut feeling is that if the Panamera and Rapide are commercial successes, you will see a production version, but if the Aston and Porsche flop, the Estoque will never get the green light.

The Rapide and the Panamera are hardly competitors. The Rapide will be a significantly mroe expensive, much lower volume car. Just think how many Cayennes you see on the road.

And they say Porsche don't change its design? Astons, eventhough extremely beautiful, all look the same to me !

As do most of the premium brands - a "family" image is deemed important at the moment.

I like it, like the Masser QP it's wonderful understated. Just how quiet money should be. where as a luminous green or Orange Lambo is utterly in your face, Just as fast money should be. all have a place, all wonderful to own and drive. I'd have one of each in every colour please

so disappointing to see so little imagination in the design. why is the 'family design' such an important concept? surely broad design themes are enough. i think people have enough brain power to recognize a car as an AM without having to produce identikit cars. how frustrating must it be for a car designer. i guess people in the market for a car like this are very conservative and don't want anything radical. if i had the funds to splash out i would want something individual.
