Hi all,

Colleague of mine has recently acquired a Chimaera (the 5litre version). Now each to their own I guess (I've got an Esprit Sport 350 which is far better imho, but sure many here will disagree )

Problem is that the roof (the hardtop, visible carbon inside) removable panel and the top of the windows don't meet. In fact, "don't meet" is probably being kind, there's about 1cm at the front and perhaps half that at the back. The panel seems to be fully located however and 'looks' as though it's correctly fitted.

Any suggestions? I presume that there is internal adjustment on the windows that could accomodate the height difference, however the glass would be proud of the front window pillars by about 1cm doing this.

Hate to see him getting wet, and with winter approaching that's a real possibility.

Comments appreciated.

Sounds like either someone has had the roof off recently and incorrectly refitted it or the wrong top has been put in?

Take it to a roofing specialist/hood trimmer and see what he thinks. Sometimes some washers and strut adjustment can work wonders, other times it will need re trimming to sort out??

Has the car ever ben pranged??

On both sides ??

there is about 4mm movement side to side on mine (not when it's attached and locked down) If it's put too far over to the pasenger side there is a gap at the top of the drivers door

Oddly though, in this case the passenger window fits fine, move it over and they both fit fine

It's exactly the same on mine (though I intend to have it checked whether the glass has dropped slightly too)

my windows are a little proud, but not 1cm.

sounds like there may be a combination of things. maybe the doors and the windows have dropped.

irritating, and yeah - he will get water in as there is not much gutter to speak of.

he should get it sorted at a dealer or a bodyshop that works on tvrs.

So are you saying the windows are a bit low even when all the way up? They are curved so if you made them go up further they might turn in enough to meet the seal.

- you can adjust the height the window stops at
- If you take the top panel off and turn it upside down you will see that the rubber fits into a metal channel. if you unscrew this channel (pull rubber out), you might be able to move this channel further outwards. Or maybe you need a new rubber bit - look at other Chimaeras to see if your mate's is duff.
