Honda NSX Concept GT: Time For Tea?

No wonder we've not had a production NSX yet, the Honda boys are too busy making tea...

Honda has a knack of producing great viral ads and video. We’ve all seen the ‘Cogs’ commercial and it recently wowed us with the ‘hands’ advert too. And now it’s made one specifically for our Time For Tea? slot, or so we’d like to think.

It features the NSX Concept GT racer, that fabulous bit of kit that will compete in the Japanese Super GT against the Lexus LF-CC and Nissan GT-R. Said Honda is on a rolling road, where it is then wound up to top speed a la Audi R8 V10 ad.

It slows, a few downchanges are fired in and the process starts again. Only now the Concept GT is boiling kettles. Yep, PH Time For Tea? now features a car making tea. We may have seen it all.

But it turns out there’s a genuine and practical reason for this bizarreness. In Honda’s words, it’s a demonstration of the ‘household energy business’, a ‘sucrose home energy management system Honda’s ‘HSHS (Honda Smart Home System)’ emissions movie'. Thanks for the translation Chrome. In English, HSHS is Honda’s range of ideas around domestic energy production, management and conservation.

It's aimed at providing some self-sufficiency for residents if and when natural disasters strike. Read more from Honda here, or simply sit back and marvel at another intriguing video.

I'm beginning to really hate Honda, they knock this thing out and decide not to make it (I personally love the way it looks let alone sounds) yet they carry on producing mindless drone motors like the Civic which seems to get uglier with each successive generation. If I was an old school engineer that had worked on such greats as the NSX, Intergra, et al I'd be wondering what the hell happened.

Is it just me or does the slight engine hesitation on up shifts sound really good?

Holy fksticks that looks mean. I would happily trade my left nut for a road legal one that looked just like that. Much like other PH'ers I miss the days when Honda made proper cars for petrolheads.

So it's been 18 months since the 'Leno vs Seinfeld' Superbowl ad - what are they doing OTHER than making tea I wonder?

Well yes. In fact it just looks hideous.

Should sell well if Honda can tap the market for 12-year olds with 100,000 to spend.
