for those who havent seen it (and i had no idea it was on until i went to channel4.com to watch something else) its 15 episodes in to series 1 - although they seem to have run them every night for some reason.

Good things:

We have Iron Chef, finally! The japanese programme was legendary.
Allez Cuisine! They kept it, even if it is gibberish!
I've heard of two of the iron chefs...but who the hell is the chinese lady?

bad things:

They had the gall to mess with the format! Why have four challengers, who dont know each other? Its supposed to be restaurant team vs iron chefs.

The new chairman is ultra gay. I mean the japense one is camp but this guy has a Graham Norton esque lisp. Also, he looks kind of Malaysian?

Why dont the challengers get to choose which iron chef to face anymore?

Why do they always have to naff up foreign shows when they bring them to the UK confused

I watched it once.

The unfunny puns by the Ollie bloke were enough to turn me away.

Judy Joo is Korean: she’s an ex investment banker: a former sales-trader on the fixed income floor of Morgan Stanley but she got out of the racket while it was still a good deal more glamorous than being an estate agent. Because of an enforced move of city, she decided to throw in her lucrative job and instead chose to follow her passion: cooking. She enrolled at the French Culinary Institute in New York. Her speciality is the art of pastry.
Joo was born in New Jersey to Korean parents. Her father was originally from North Korea, and escaped with the rest of his family at the age of five. Joo has now been living in London for the past 5 years. She has spent time working at Gordon Ramsay’s in Chelsea, as well as a brief stint in Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck in Bray. With her degree in engineering, Blumenthal’s style of cooking comes naturally. In addition, she has participated in writing cookery books and restaurant reviews (for Time Out). But now she has her big break: Iron Chef.

it's amazing, this internet thingy.

I thought it was utter crap. The presenter is a dipstick of the highest order too.

yep, the two commentators/presenters were abysmal - they totally failed to grasp the sports-commentary esque style of the successful US and Japanese series.

I tried to get an option on the format but these clowns managed to get it into production. How?!?!
