UPDATE
Sorry for delay, have been waiting to hear back from Kingston Lacy.
The main point here with all these venues is:
Are you willing to pay an admission charge of around £5 to access the grounds for this meet?
My thoughts are to make this Dorset meet more special than the usual car park / pub affair. I'd like it to be a social half-day out over 4 hours, rather than a meet, greet, eat and ps off.
The problem with meets that grow large (like Cheddar) is the food angle - no pub is big enough. So having the cars and food in one place is, I think, ideal.
Here are my preferences in order:
1) Kingston Lacy, 19th July (£7.50 PER CAR, House extra)
Parking in front of the house (unfortunately we cannot park at the more picturesque rear). Large restaurant so we can look around the cars then go inside for lunch, meeting back outside for more looking and then a drive. Good local roads.
2) Sherborne Castle, 21st June (£5 PER CAR, House extra)
Parking in our own field next to the castle and we will be allowed to place cars on the drive in front of the castle for photos. There is a tearoom, or we can picnic in the grounds next to the lake.
3) Forde Abbey, 21st June or 19th July (£5.90 PER PERSON, House extra)
Parking on the lawn (weather permitting) right in front of the Abbey, attractive restaurant area.
What I think...
Kingston Lacy is my main focus due to its location, local roads and its restaurant facilities. However, it is the more expensive of the two that charge per car and we cannot arrange some of the cars at the rear of the house for photo ops.
I have ruled out Athelhampton as it cannot do any of our dates. Perhaps another time.
Doing more than one meet
The May date is just too soon now.
As I have been worrying about losing great cars, I am happy to have two meetings as long as it doesn't dilute either of them - this is quite likely though. We need a core of those interested to come to both meets to make it worthwhile. My preference is for one meet, but if the interest is serious we should do two to keep everyone happy.
With two meets, the raffle is going to be more difficult however. If I can get more prizes, it will become easier.
So...
Will you pay around £5 to come to this meet?
PLEASE NOTE: These admission charges include not only the meet, but access to the gardens at these venues so the family can have a wander while you talk engines!

Raffle prize - I was thinking if your looking for prizes I wouldn't mind offering up a free photo, edited to look perfect and big enough to be printed out about A2? with out loss. Taken on the day outside the location, be a nice piece of memorabilia from the event.

I had dropped the May meet in my mind due to it being too soon now to organise. A simpler chat and blat could be done, yes, but it looks like the Bristol tunnel run might be that weekend now. Or at least the 16th, the way it is going.
And I have the evening meet during that week too. AND I have a TVR meet this Sunday!
Aaargh. So much going on!
How about a meet at Cartgate picnic area on the 17th, then a run south to the coast for chips, via the Beaminster tunnel?

Can make a July date only. Either the Aero 8 or the Carver (unless can get someone else to pilot one then can bring both)
May have a new addition to the stable by then. Not letting on yet in case it doesn't happen but it is so rare only one was ever produced.
