You can't really use a 3.2 Carrera Clubsport as a benchmark as it's 1 of 53 UK RHD so it's a true collectable.
i know mate but to me whilst i understand ltd production its just a carrera with no options with 122k miles! special car nevertheless but bare bones thats what it is and i suppose thats what makes it special

It so well judged that interior. It just captures the essence of an air cooled 911 to me.
+1

Well it's got 993 wheels (changeable), no sports seats seats a cream interior and it's Guards Red- so not ideal.
Agree and it doesn't have correct flag wing mirrors either but try finding another. I wouldn't be surprised if that car is £75k to £80k and bet it sells in no time. Hairpin also have a 46k mile supersport 3.2c cab I fancied and almost fell off my chair when informed it was circa £80k!!!!

I agree re interior colour, lack of flags and ss, wrong wheels etc. Most of that easy to fix. Neil at Hairpin said it was a nice example. Lucky new owner.

Personally I'm not a fan of flags, had mine changed but it's personal . Sorry what's SS?
Flags or the later mirrors don't bother me one way or the other, Beardos prefer car to be period correct lol. SS = Sports seats which I prefer.

If its a genuine original paint, original panel, good history car its v.attractively priced IMO. I believe it will be sold to the trade for full asking price and put up for £59,995 early in NY. I really hope a private buyer gets her and drive the wheels off the car.

£50k for a flat red 964. Personally, you either have to be Porsche obsessed or decidely unimaginative to sink that kind of money into something neither special nor rare.

A good friend of mine recently bought an S1 Elise and an E30 M3 for under £50k combined, both of which i'd rate above the 964 as puristic drivers' cars.
A good E30 M3 is £80k-£100k with like for like condition 964 C2 at £50k. I'd personally put the 964 C2 a smidgen ahead of an M3. Both great cars but on road the 964 C2 far more exploitable with its torquey engine. A classic M3 is a bit breathless by modern standards even when thrashed. Love them both but if I had to pick one car it would be the 964 C2 without a second glance at the M3 and I love the original M3. however against a mint manual E46 M3 coupe I'd struggle to pick the 964 C2 at current values.

An E46 M3? Seriously? It want even a great m3 but not even close to a 964 for driver satisfaction.
You can get into a good E46 for £15k. Try doing that with a 964. If you're on a budget E46 M3 hard to ignore IMO

At that price point my money would be in a 996 3.4. Again a far superior drive to a 3 series BMW.
I'd buy the early 996 myself if you could find a mint one. I've not seen an early ambers manual 996 C2 for sale in good condition for quite some time. Then again to take that one step further a 986 S is pretty unbeatable value at the moment and i did choose one over an E46 M3 back in 2002 after driving both back to back. There's still something very special about the engine in the E46 M3 though IMO

I have never been a fan of the E46 M3. Far too heavy and the engine lacked the torque to cope. I drove one with a view to buy years ago but it felt dull and lacked the rawness of my then E34 M5. Now that was a special car.
I agree re torque point on all the M3s up to and inc E46. Not driven the newer M3s but they look even heavier.

There's something about the build quality on a 964 that tickles me. Its better put together IMO than both the 993 that came after it and the 3.2C that preceded it. The 964 has the build quality of a tiger tank. Equally the M3s up to E46 also very well made. Can't say the same about the build quality of 986, 996, 987 and 997. Also the 964 and E46 M3 in the hands of a good driver can keep more modern machinery pretty honest. Both go round a track very well indeed.

I wouldn't say a 964 is better built than a 3.2.

On what grounds? The arch liners were a modernist move but save that they are on par. Although in their day the 964 dropped oil which hammered residuals..
They're better screwed together IMO. CMoose used my old bangers so if he see this maybe he can chime in. 3.2C very solid but 964 better still. The well documented oil leaks are a shame but I know of more than a few 964s even early cars that have never dropped any oil in 25 years.

As a driving experience I'd still pick the 3.2C don't worry smile
