Is there a way to comfortably get to the dip stick without having to half open the hood? It looks like a very tight squeeze!

Hi
Only way i know is get the cover in the service position.
Start engine push both buttons and hold down till cover is fully up,might be enough room,i always pull the red loop and open the cover right up.
Make sure you then latch the cover back down before you close the lid otherwise it won't do anything.
Cheers biggrin

Hi Peter,

Not that I know of. Did you get the manual with the car? If so page 181 is the only way I know of to do it, not that I have ever done it. If you don't have the manual I live in Whiteley so can pop round with my manual if you want.

Regards
Liam

Not often you get told to park behind the other black Lamborghini. Yeah I know what you mean about the mud. Before I left I was going to take a picture of them to show people how you showed me up, yours looks much better, but you'd already gone. What exhaust have you got fitted?

Sorry about taking over the thread Peter. A black 06 Gallardo Spyder. You pointed me, via Tim at Envy Valeting, in the direction of Mike Pullen for the last service. Thanks again for that.

Edited for spelling as using my phone.

Ahh yes, I remember. My memory is rubbish. I do have a manual for the car, just thought there must be a better way to get to the engine. The layout is very different to my old 05 Gallardo coupe. I was used to topping up the oil every 500 miles or so, i'm hoping the spyder isnt such an oil burner. Because that would be a pain.

p101 is the 07 model really so much different to drive to the earlier car? i briefly drove an 04 e gear once and i only remember the gearbox being very clunky compared to the newer car, the performance felt much the same.

I sold my last Gallardo last October'ish, so my memories of driving it may not be 100% accurate, but the car does seem very different, it does seem faster. but not sure how that would be possible, isn't 2006 + an extra 20BHP? but being a heavier spyder I am sure you could probably discount that. Perhaps because it's topless it gives the illusion of extra speed.

Hi exhaust is a tubi, the blue trim tips are from usa.

Yeah mine seems quicker than my 04,not sure but might be gear ratios help it get moving faster.
How long have you had yours?

sure it is the gearing.... in my alpina, i often get the feeling of more rapid progress by short shifting rather than hanging on to the revs..... can;t see 20hp making that much difference..... maybe the torque curve is also altered in profile...

Over the last couple of years I don't think its done 500 miles a year.

I agree with the comments about it feeling faster than the 04. Not sure if it actually is, maybe just a bit smoother. Mind you the 04 was a manual and the 06 has egear so not really like for like.

At the minute the exhaust valves are open but might look into changing it. From new and it has done about 7,500 miles. How long you had yours?

I haven't actually done it myself, it was Martin at Emblem that mentioned they were open. Nobody will admit doing it but am guessing someone must of done it when they borrowed it.

I am supposed to be going out for a beer with Tim tonight so can pop round if you haven't sorted it and see if we can figure it out, much easier when looking at the car than trying to picture it.

Hi Peter,

This is from Lamborghini-Talk forum.

The easiest thing to do that makes the car loud all the time is to simply unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid valve. The valve is located behind the "Lamborghini" logo on the rear bumper. You can get to it by removing the center grill (you will need a Torx T15 screwdriver).

Then push in on the retaining bar with your thumb (see photo) as you pull the plug out of the solenoid valve. You should probably cover the open end of the plug (with tape, etc) to keep road dirt out of the terminals.

This method keeps all the vacuum lines attached so you don't run into other issues (vacuum leaks, contamination, etc.). Unplugging the solenoid valve will not harm the engine computer. I ran my car this way for some time with no CEL's or side effects.

Hopefully that helps.
