RE: Aston Martin Garage Tour: Time For Tea?
Thursday 18th June 2015
Before the blur of Le Mans weekend, hopefully you will remember we ran a competition for a Aston pit tour during the race. Here's what happened!
Aston Martin Garage Tour: Time For Tea?
PHers get a behind the scenes look at Aston's pit handiwork during Le Mans
Four lucky PHers were given a tour of the garage by David Adams from Aston and shown the engineers, the huge array of spares and the pit crew performing a driver change on the #98 car. It looks as predictably slick as you might expect! Of course everything can't covered in 90 seconds so if our PHers can provide any more detail on their experience the floor is theirs...
Meanwhile watch the video here.

I was winner! I think, I hope I didn't dream it, as that ain't me in the vid.
Anyway, what a great prize. This was my 11th 24 hours and you do hope that one day you'll get an insiders look to reward all those hours spent cramped in with the rest of the masses on the start/finish straight. And so it was...
The chap from Aston met us at the Pie and Piston some time between 5pm and 6pm on race day, took us down to the paddock where we saw the trucks and tents packed with spares, tyres and technician. Singed the back of me calf on the tyre heating oven thingy, then went into the garage to witness a real life, genuine mid race pit stop. Fuel, tyres and a new driver for the #97 car just a few short metres from my very eyes. Just perfect.
I actually liked being barged out of road by mechanics, made really feel we were amongst the action, and we were not rushed at all. We had what seemed like all the time in the world to ask questions and nose around.
Massive thanks to PH and AMR, you made a long time Le Mans fan very happy. Your welcome to a tour of my garage in return any time!

Very cool. And we need these sorts of things to go VR like the Street View tours that Google offer of museums.
I was lucky enough to get chosen during the race on the Saturday to go down and see the garage.
Very cool stuff and once again, thanks must go to PH and AM for allowing us in mid-way through the race as the team were trying to do their jobs! Added an extra dimension to the race and generated a lot of good memories.
Thanks again!
