Nissan Skyline DR30 'Red Panda': Time for Tea?

Well as we're having a day for the Japanese Domestic Market and red Nissan coupes...

This is a pure coincidence, honest. Today's chosen thread was set, as was the 370Z Spotted, before Petrolicious put out its latest video about an hour ago. Which just so happens to be on a Nissan coupe imported from Japan...

Looks great, doesn't it? This red Skyline DR30 coupe belongs to Jay Kho, avid Japanese car fan and the subject of this latest Petrolicious video. Unsurprisingly his tastes have been shaped by childhood experiences and paternal influence; growing up in the Phillippines, his dad raced a Japanese car, so there was a sense of inevitability about once again buying a JDM vehicle.

As always it's an interesting tale, beautifully documented by Petrolicious. Some of the night shots in particular are stunning. However, you're left wanting to know even more about the car by the end. Well, we were at least. If any of the PH community know more about driving or owning these fantastic old Skylines, it would be great to hear!

Watch the video here.

Cool car and a nice back story. However what's the deal with all the stickers? Is it a replica of how the original racer was, or just an addition made by the owner? If the latter, then imho it would look much much better without.

Looking at the interweb, it would appear to be like the race cars of the time in terms of the stickers and colouring.

I do not like the stickers. I thought it was broken and wasn't going to start. I'm out.

The world is a very large bag of different, I would never really look at these in awe, but then I never pay any attention to European hatch back cars either, so not necessarily the culture difference. Always been more drawn to the exotic and the quirky, than the powerful in disguised as ordinary. Always good to see enthusiasm in a proper drivers car rather than these odd fashions that spring up from time to time.

This is probably frowned up Linking to another PH type site but here's a fantastic, technical look back over the entire history of the Skyline.

Gripping stuff!
