At the last update on Carl Greartrix's
Lego Caterham project
it had 6,000 votes on Lego's official ideas page. Each month since then another thousand votes have been collected so that the official review threshold of 10,000 has been breached. This means Lego will now investigate the viability of a commercially available Caterham kit - well done Carl!
R300 is Carl's latest addition
Since February Carl's Lego creations have been on display at the National Space Centre's 'Brickish' show and the new Caterham showroom opening over the Easter weekend. He has also added a new R300 racing model, described as "not as much an update (more of a slight step backwards)." This is because it uses a few parts no longer in production and a few connections are not the strongest. Still, it's another possibility off the Lego Caterham idea.
So what's the next step? According to the Lego website a review board "evaluates and selects which product [of those that have more than 10,000 votes] will become the next Lego Ideas product." This evaluation will take place in September along with all the other projects that have reached 10,000 supporters since May. The review can take many months, after which time the Caterham will get a yay or nay from Lego. A successful project will then enter Development, but let's not get ahead of ourselves...
