A few weeks ago we brought you
news of the revised Mazda MX-5
but now we can reveal that there will be changes to the roadster’s engine line-up. The new comes from Spanish website km77, which has also published new pictures of the tweaked MX-5.
While buyers can still choose between a 1.8-litre or a 2.0-litre engine there are different pistons, new valve springs, lower friction parts, and a new intake system. The result will not only be a sportier sound but a slight increase in power.
The roadster also gets a revised front, with styling cues from the RX-8, and new rear lights and bumper. For the first time in Europe, buyers can choose a six-speed automatic (Activematic) and gears can be selected via steering wheel controls.
The manual gearbox now has its synchronisers carbon-coated to make changes smoother. The front suspension has been revised to make the steering more responsive and the MX-5 now runs on low resistance tyres. Both the hard-top and soft-top equipped models benefit from a new layer of sound insulation to reduce wind noise.
