Goodwood's ambitious plans to create a
Moving Motor Show
on the Thursday of this year's Festival of Speed are, er, speeding along, with a fine array of manufacturers confirmed as attending.
Most encouragingly of all, the list includes many makes that have boycotted recent British motor shows, including Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Nissan, Porsche and Rolls-Royce.
The glory days of British motor shows and the glamour of the Earls Court and the (ahem) NEC may be long gone, but Goodwood might just be on the verge of creating a new golden age of the motor show in Britain - and one that lets potential punters hop into cars for a test drive.
Other makers confirmed for the Moving Motor Show are Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Alpina, Honda, Jaguar, Lotus, Mazda, Mercedes, Morgan and Volvo.
Highlights of the Moving Motor Show will include the UK debuts of the
Porsche Boxster Spyder
facelifted Lotus Elise
, New Alfa Romeo Giulietta,
Ferrari 458 Italia
, Honda CR-Z, and Audi RS5 - and Goodwood promises many more models yet to be confirmed.
Of course, all the usual FoS rules apply for the Friday, Saturday and Suunday, so expect all manner of historic racers, plenty of rallying action, and the famous supercar run (including such loveliness as the dynamic debut of the Hispano-Suiza Geneva concept and the Mercedes SLS AMG).
Oh, and you'll be able to meet the PH team as we're getting a stand at the FoS for the first time (worth the ticket price alone, that one...)
