Last year we welcomed 700 of you to Porsche Silverstone for the 2010 round of the Sunday Service. As many of you will remember, we only just managed to squeeze you all in by using all available space, including the grass, and that was after a long wait to queue to get in.
We will return for 2011 thanks to the generosity of the fellows at Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone, but with the space issues of last year at the forefront of our minds, we will reduce numbers from 700 to 600 cars to ease things for everyone. The date for your diary is the 2nd October 2011.
The Porsche venue is spectacular, with displays of the latest and greatest cars from Stuttgart, a fantastic building with driver training facilities, a low-grip pad and their own track. Speaking of the track, that's where we'll be parking and the display of PH metal twisting around the undulating circuit is a sight to behold.
We must hire a snapper who can stand straight
When you tire of looking at the cars, you can sign up for a fast ride in the Panamera (£5), watch the 911 display laps or peer over onto the Silverstone circuit to watch the Britcar 24-hour race take place (more about that later).
Thanks to our Sunday Service sponsors at Adrian Flux we will also hand you a special Order of Service and PistonHeads Sunday Service sticker as you arrive. These stickers have reached upwards of £50 on well-known auction sites*, so it's well worth attending for that alone.
Not familiar with the format of a Sunday Service? It's simple: you sign up to be guaranteed a space, tell the PH staff on the gate who you are (no name, no entry) and we allow you in and tell you where to park. From there you're on your own, but we recommend that you look at the PHers' cars, purchase some breakfast and wander around the exhibits laid on by our host. Gates open at 09.00 and we'll close the event at 13.00.
How do you sign up? Well, just follow this link and add your name. If there is a number between 1-600 alongside your name, you're in. Simple.
Not a fan of getting up early? Why not stay the night? PistonHeads and groundsheet gurus 1st-Tickets will be hosting a
at the Britcar 24 race weekend, so you can make a weekend of it. Camp with us from Friday through to Sunday, head over to Porsche for breakfast and be back for the end of the race. Does it get any better? We don't think so.
Camping with PH is very reasonable indeed, in fact it borders on being ridiculously cheap. To find out more see the previous articles here, here and here.
We'll see you on the campsite, or at the Sunday Service.
