Done with playing the fantasy numbers with that Ferrari full house at RM's forthcoming
Villa d'Este sale
? Like with one million would you go for a single 288 GTO or the F40 AND F50?
Well, if you fancy betting your stake after one single Maranello nag you might want to place a few million on this car also in the sale. Especially having heard it.
Best hope those numbers come up, eh?
Now, the range and diversity of fabulous and exorbitantly priced 50s Ferraris never ceases to amaze. Likewise the prices they command. And this 340/375MM Berlinetta Competizione isn't, perhaps, quite as elegant or beautiful as the
later 250s
. It does have a spectacularly cool name though, and the kind of history that makes millionaire collectors tremble in their tassled slip-ons. While matching numbers and factory Le Mans provenance add to the coolness (and value) any red-blooded PHer should be more interested in the way the thing goes and sounds and, thankfully, RM's
catalogue entry
this little video
demonstrating just that. You know, just in case you needed any additional incentive. Turn it up loud and annoy your colleagues while you relax with your brew.
And if you want to read up on the car there's some intel on one of its sister cars here.
