You know the score by now, another race, another pole for Marc Marquez. Fingers crossed Mugello's fast straight would allow the rest of the pack to cling onto his coat tails for more than just the opening few minutes...
Marquex and Lorenzo battled hard
A hectic first lap saw the old Lorenzo return as he took the lead and got his head down while Marc was being duffed up by the wild Iannone. It was only a matter of time until Marc made it past, but how far ahead could Lorenzo get? The answer was nearly a second - we had a race on! Or did we?
After comfortably shadowing Lorenzo for half the race, Marc made his move with seven to go when Lorenzo rode onto the dirt at the end of the pit lane at about 200mph. Race over. Or was it? Could Lorenzo hang in for the last seven laps?
A rejuvenated Lorenzo instantly hit back, regaining the lead with six left and it looked as if he could match Marc's pace. And aggression.
But it was the Honda rider on top (again)
A superb final few laps saw Marc and Lorenzo trading places before Marc just broke Lorenzo to take his sixth win out of six. It may be the same result, but at least this time it was a hell of an entertaining race.
Moto2 and an amazing qualifying saw Sam Lowes lining up in second spot so a good start could have seen him a potential podium finisher. Sadly for Sam his first lap wasn't great, meaning there was work to do in the race. Much was expected of the Moto2 race, but in the end it was a slightly disappointing affair with Rabat taking the win from Salom and Folger. Lowes finished eighth.
A crazy Moto3 race was eventually won by Fenati by a whisker, if that. However for Brit fans the best moment was when McPhee led the race. It may only have been for a brief spell, but what a great moment for the Scot, what a shame he tipped off a few laps later. And speaking of great moments, it's old news by now, but hands up to Michael Dunlop for taking the Superbike win at the TT. This week's racing is going to be cracking and the Senior will be awesome, weather permitting...
