Remember the Hennessey Ford Raptor we featured
in Carpool
a few weeks back? There's a new one. A lighter, faster, more damn badass Velociraptor. Hell truckin yeah.
Ford F-150
has been replaced you see, and Ford hasn't yet got round to replacing the Raptor version that Hennessey based its wild creations on. Instead the latest Velociraptor is derived from the standard 5.0 V8 albeit with one or two choice mods. Like a huge supercharger. It runs 8 psi of boost and, combined with new injectors, intake tweaks, a new exhaust and an ECU remap, makes 600hp. Don't forget the new F150 is 300kg lighter than the old one too...
Without the 'baja pre-runner capabilities' of the previous Raptor, Hennessey is offering many additional extras to make the latest Velociraptor suitable for whatever adventures you have planned. The 33-inch tyres are standard but there are Brembo brakes, coilovers, different bumpers, winches and light bars on the extras list. Superb.
According to Hennessey the new Velociraptor "will offer the best of both worlds for our clients". Apparently some take their kids to school in one! Including an FX4 Super Crew F-150, the Velociraptor 600 Supercharged will cost $73,500, or about £47K. It's even warrantied for three years. And fear not less profligate pick-up owners; there's a Hennessey Ecoboost upgrade on the way soon as well.
