However, restrained is good as the simple half suede upholstery and Recaro front seats look good and are comfortable over long distances. There are also white dial faces with 'Type R' logos. The only other clue to this car's special nature is the titanium gear lever.
Seats are as good as they look!
Air conditioning was one of the very few options offered for the Type R and most UK buyers chose to add it. Make sure it works or budget for a re-gas in the price you pay.
Wear and tear to the seats should be limited to the driver's seat outer bolster. The three-spoke steering wheel feels good in the hands, while the rest of the controls are plain and easy to fathom. Many cars will now have an aftermarket stereo, so be sure it works.
Otherwise, there's little to worry about inside the Type R. You get four electric windows, central locking and front airbags, so just enough to feel modern without being too complicated.
For anyone looking to use this Accord as practical transport, it's worth remembering the rear seats don't tilt and fold due to the strengthening around the rear bulkhead.
PHer's view:
"I used mine for everyday commuting and as the family car. There was loads of room for teenage kids and the boot was fine for holidays. Shame Honda doesn't make a modern equivalent."
