I think you will find that TVR have never made a steering column U/J in the history of man(in spite of Mr Heaths Gospel)But then what proof is there that the HOLY BIBLE is true. Good luck in selling your car for strong money when the market is saturated

The steering UJ is TVR specific as the steering column is Ford and the rack is GM.Probably not made by TVR but certainly made for them.

That's cheap! I paid around £50 for mine (which TVR didn't have in stock because the people who make them couldn't get the parts so I had to wait for about a month). This information has come from about 4 different people (all connected to TVR) now so I would love to know the story behind the UJ???, bearing in mind there are two in the S steering mechanism!.The way I see it is that you have to somehow connect a Ford column to a GM rack, The Ford UJ is similar but the rod that goes to the rack is a permanent fit (welded?) to the UJ whereas the S has a splined shaft that is clamped by the UJ.I may also know someone who is interested in your V8S, send details to tvr-v6@supanet.com Edited by LeeBee on Monday 16th April 15:26

I've tried various sources for the UJs and some people recognise one bit, some recognise another. Nobody I've tried can match the whole thing. I'm pretty sure TVR do a 'cut and shut' using the parts from two different columns. If you know for sure TVR used a standard part, what is it off?

I doubt that it is perfect. No book with that amount of information in can be entire free of errors. But I haven't found any yet, and as far as the steering UJ is concerned I believe it is spot on. But maybe you know better. Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
