Previous owner of my 400HC had Nitros fitted from Penninsular and it is not a cheap job - I have the service record to prove it.

They do crash over bumps, though probably not much worse than a normal 400 suspension. They also make a funny rattle / "pushtic" noise when going over harder bumps - told this is normal as they are a noisy shock.

But they do keep the car flat and pinned to the road. Have driven 400 before and it certainly seems a little better on handling. However, would I have spent the money? Mmm, not sure. Then again, I will be doing track days soon so it is worth it for that.

Cheers,

Paul

just bought my first tvr 93 400 40k miles previuos owner had just fitted new front shocks (spax ajustable) they crash like hell over harsh bumps ect even though tey are on the soft settings considering nitrons from peninsula tvr but at 2oo quid a corner need to know if it will help or is it a case of they all do that sir!

Have you compared it against any other cars? The ride is going to be a lot harsher than a normal saloon because you've got stiffer suspension and wide, low profile tyres. If you're new to TVRs you might need a while to get used to it.

I've tried various dampers on the V8S including several sets of Spax and two sets of Nitrons. I found the Spax gave a reasonable ride but I have had a lot of reliability problems with them, including one that nearly killed me. The Nitrons are hugely more expensive, but do seem to give a much smoother and more consistent damping effect. This lets me run an extremely hard suspension set up for track use and still get an acceptable ride quality. But what's acceptable for me may not be for you, and only you can say whether it's worth that much money to you.

aLSO I don't know if you're considering changing the dampers in pairs, but for what its worth I'd say unless you are replacing like with like you should change all four as a set.
