Description

Here is my Skoda Octavia 4x4, offered for sale mostly because now I've got it to the point where it's totally sorted I'm ready to move on to another project (why does that always happen?) Anyway:
Essentials:
Make - Skoda
Model - Octavia 4x4 1.8T Estate
Mileage - 127885
MoT - 30/05/2020
Keys - 2
Owners - 3
Service History - Absolutely loads and loads and loads
Details:
I bought this car in January 2017 from the previous owner who had owned it for a number of years and had done quite a few tasteful modifications to it. He then took it off the road for a few years where it lived in his garage. I acquired it and basically picked up where he off, with plenty more modifications. In essence I wanted to build my interpretation of the ‘ultimate’ road going daily drive mk1 Octavia estate (I’m sure others will think differently, but each to their own).
This involved managing to buy an MoT fail BAM engined Audi TT, an MoT fail Octavia L&K and an MoT fail Octavia vRS and using them all as donors to take everything that was possibly needed, as well as lots of other work. I’m seriously fastidious about my cars and I don’t fit anything without making sure that its going to work. All consumables and wearable parts (moving items like balljoints, ARB drop links etc) have been replaced within the last couple of years at the most.
Serious interested parties - please get in touch with me and I will detail exactly when, why and how things were done, but I’ll list the spec here in brief:
Body:
Octavia mk1 4x4 estate shell with sunroof, in Cayenne Orange. Fitted with colour matched vRS front bumper and rear spoiler. Genuine VAG steel sump guard fitted with the correct mounts. Octavia L&K Xenon headlight conversion with the correct front and rear level sensors. Mk4 Golf Aero wiper conversion.
Engine:
Complete BAM 1.8T 225PS conversion from a 2003 Audi TT. Mileage 84k when removed, now 94k. Many supporting modifications including TT airbox and MAF, Badger5 80mm TIP, Forge 008P DV, silicone boost hoses to a front mount intercooler. Standard TT K04 downpipe and cats to a full custom 2.5” stainless exhaust. Deatschwerks DV65 fuel pump. R-Tech remap in January 2019 to stage 1.
Gearbox/Transmission:
02M 6-speed gearbox from the same 2003 Audi TT. Clutch and DMF fitted to the Audi TT in 2017 prior to the MoT fail. Balanced hybrid TT/Octavia propshaft. Blue Haldex controller - if you don’t know what a Blue Haldex controller is or does then Google it - it basically makes for a much better balance of power distribution to all four wheels and vastly improves the way the car drives. Haldex serviced correctly with oil and filter at the right intervals.
Front Suspension and Steering:
Golf 4motion sport springs and shocks. Leon Cupra R top mounts, TT cast front wishbones with solid wishbone bushes. Golf 4motion ARB. TT front hubs, TT driveshafts. Audi TT lower ratio ‘quickrack’, fits and works with the ESP with no issues. Audi TT steering arms and track rod ends.
Rear Suspension:
Golf 4motion sport springs, shocks and ARB. Fully rebuilt with Powerflex polybushes and OE outer trailing arm bushes (the newer solid rubber type).
Front Brakes:
Leon Cupra R Brembo front calipers, fully refurbished and painted black by BCS in 2018, with 323mm Brembo discs and Brembo pads. HEL stainless steel braided hoses. ATE high temp fluid.
Rear Brakes:
Audi TT 256mm vented rear brakes with new discs and pads. HEL stainless steel braided hoses and new rear solid pipes/flexi hoses. ATE high temp fluid.
Wheels:
Audi S3 Avus 17x7.5 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, all with good tread.
Interior:
Octavia vRS complete black headlining conversion with correct pillar and bottled trims. vRS steering wheel. Mk4 Golf heated Recaro leather with heated seats wired up and fully functional. L&K black leather doorcards with L&K marble interior trim. L&K instrument cluster with DIS.
Cruise control stalk fitted and fully functional. Audi TT aluminium pedals.
ICE:
Alpine CDE-136BT head unit with bluetooth streaming, bluetooth handsfree and DAB. DAB bee-sting aerial fitted (really good signal strength!). Standard Octavia L&K speakers.
Negatives:
Yes, all cars have them, this is no exception. There is a small amount of surface bubbling at the bottom of the glass on the bootlid. There is a small tear in the offside bolster of the drivers seat. The O/S xenon light has the occasional flicker when starting up from cold, which I think is the ignitor - a quick blip of the throttle to spike the voltage always gets it going properly. That’s it.
Summary:
This is a car that I don’t really want to sell but I can’t keep them all. It’s an S3 in an Octavia shell, with all of the right supporting modifications (in my opinion). It’s fast, it puts the power down really well, it stops really well. It’s a little bit lairy, it whooshes and hisses and bangs and farts and is a real laugh to drive. It’s a proper sleeper, no one expects it be putting out over 250bhp, especially because its orange! The TT quick rack is fitted and works properly with the Octavia ESP - no annoying ESP activations mid corner. But equally its the perfect practical daily driver - loads of room in the back, no one looks twice at it and of course its fantastic in slippery weather.
It’s got everything you could want inside; heated seats, DAB radio, bluetooth handsfree etc etc.
I have done everything it’s ever needed, with documentary proof of all of the work. The A/C is gassed and working, I’ll also give it a full service including new spark plugs for the new owner.
I also have an MoT fail Octavia 4x4 hatchback in green, in running order which is ideal as a spares car. If you’ve got room to store it then you can have it for free to go with the car, but it will need trailering away. If not, I’ll sell it seperately.
Price:
If you want it exactly as it is, then it’s £4000. No offers.
If you want it as described above with the Brembo’s and Blue Haldex controller removed, replaced with a set of refurbed 312mm front calipers (with new discs/pads/braided hoses) and a standard Haldex controller then it’s £3000. No offers.
Both of those prices will include an immaculate bootlid in silver, complete with glass and wiring intact that you can have painted in the correct colour to alleviate the corrosion on the bootlid that I mentioned. I will also include all of the spares that I've acquired for the car as well as plenty of other stuff - to be discussed with any prospective buyers.
I’m in no hurry to sell, the prices are firm. Those of you who are in the know about these will know that these are getting to be a rare car. This has been modified correctly with OE modifications and is arguably the Octavia 4x4 that Skoda should have built in the first place.
Many pictures available on request including pictures of all the work carried out. A few attached, taken in September 2019 when the weather was good.
Please PM me or give me a call/text on 07545 905165 if you’re seriously interested, you won’t regret it. Any questions please ask, there are undoubtedly loads of things that I’ve forgotten to mention.
Thanks
Tom
