WESTFIELD XI

Selecting Gear are extremely pleased to offer this amazing, no expense spared Lotus X1 recreation by Westfield for auction. Finished in Limited Edition Jubilee and wearing a period looking plate, this X1 is powered by road/race MED 1380cc engine and Ford type 9 5 speed transmission through a special 3.5 ratio limited slip differential which has transformed the car for road use.

Completed in 2010 by a fanatical husband and wife team, this build cost in excess of £35000 to complete with every part either being reconditioned from the donor car or brand new before going back to Westfield for a full and comprehensive check prior to IVA testing.

Since then some very sympathetic improvements have been carried out by the current owner which include a discreet sat nav system to aid modern driving, LED brake and Fog lamps for added safety, period lamps and dash mounted map light and a tailored indoor car cover.

Accompanying this special car is a lovely history file documenting both the build, magazine features in Complete Kit Car over 2 editions and history of the events and shows its been invited to attend such as the Jim Clark 50th anniversary dinner.

The Westfield XI (or Westfield Eleven) is a British sports car and kit car based on the Lotus Eleven.

In 1982 Westfield Sportscars, responding to the popularity of the original Lotus XI, started production of a replica with a fiberglass body available as either a finished car or kit car. The majority of Westfield XIs are sold as self-build kits without engines and designed to accept the 1275cc A-series from a donor MG Midget or Austin-Healey Sprite

Production of the original Westfield XI ceased in 1986, although the company offered kits until about 1988. In 2004 Westfield restarted production, still using the A-series engine. Westfield continues to offer the XI kit in small production batches.
