Description
Over the past 15-18 years I’ve owned a few 993s (including a C2S and a C4S) so know the model pretty well.
Regretted selling my last one, and a few years ago I decided to go a different path and set about creating a special 993.
I found a high mileage but honest/good starting point in the form of a C2 manual coupe, which was purchased from Northway Porsche. Many people know Northway and the owner Ray knew the car well, and had been looking after it from a maintenance perspective for the previous owner.
I’ve tried to list the spec below as best as possible but suspect certain things have been missed so please let me know if you are interested and have questions.
As mentioned above, the car was purchased from Ray Northway, who are a recognised independent near Reading with a good reputation. From my experience, Ray is a lovely guy who runs an honest business and he gladly sorted any/all issues that I spotted after I’d picked up the car and driven home.
The car had an extensive service history, and actually was great to drive even before I began the enhancements listed below. Ray had sold the car to the previous owner back in 2008 and knew it well, having serviced it over the years before I bought it in 2013.
Details below:
1996 993 C2 Varioram Coupe
Manual transmission
Midnight Blue exterior paintwork
179.5k but please read below
The car includes cruise control which i understand is a rare option on the 993.
Build spec:

- OE Porsche RS Short Shift
- Full windows-out Bare Metal respray in OE Midnight Blue (carried out by Sam at Impact Bodywork in Sussex)

- Engine refresh with c.£6.5k of work by Precision Porsche
- Wide-spread replacement of seals/gaskets as part of respray
- Extensive list of refreshed components (eg. tinware, underside covers, etc)
- Full interior stripdown to facilitate sound-deadening upgrade (centre tunnel, rear shelf, doors, etc)
- Audio installation, without changing OEM appearance (ie. ‘stealth’ install) using Morel components
- Lightweight Flywheel + RS Clutch

- Full brake caliper overhaul in matching Blue, to complement interior accents
- New brake discs as part of the recent suspension work
- Becker Cascade 7941 Satellite Navigation with Bluetooth Handsfree (best unit for the 993, looks OEM and great functionality)
- Genuine Becker iPod interface
- Genuine Porsche big oval exhaust tips
- 964 RS Strut bar which fits under the OE carpet
- Technica Brake Lines
- New Porsche keys and Alarm Fobs
- New AC Compressor (993s often don’t have icy cold AC, but this one is perfect)
Suspect I’ve missed various bits/details above, but the car will come with folder full of paperwork, to validate the provenance. Needless to say, I will include a range of parts from the car with the sale (eg. original heater blower, original steering wheel, etc).
Hopefully the quality of the work will speak for itself; the philosophy was to create a very special example of this iconic car (having owned a couple of them previously!).
Basically, apart from minor/routine servicing, I believe the car wants for nothing. No interior squeaks or rattles. Feels like a “new old” Porsche 993, if that makes sense!
The car drives beautifully and feels absolutely planted. Appreciate the higher mileage may not be for everyone but the car has cost £10s of thousands to get to this condition and I suspect a similar project would cost a lot more today.
I’ve taken some videos but can’t post links in the advert. Please contact me if you’d like to see them.
