Chimaera exhaust (standard)
£200
Description
All points on the pipework are still absolutely solid.
The strange dents on top of the middle box appear as designed and not accident damaged.
There’s slight corrosion as can be seem in the pictures but all is surface with no risk of penetration. Being stainless steel it should go on for years.
The exhaust was apparently slightly different as the factory produced this adaptation with view to complying with strict Swiss noise regulations (I’ve no idea whether TVR actually did supply cars to Switzerland).
The exhaust was measured at 98dB at Brands Hatch (1/2 metre 45 degree angle), a little quieter than a regular exhaust. This is great if you want an exhaust that will get you on to virtually any track day whatever their noise limit.
The diameter of the end cans is probably a little larger than on a standard Chimaera unit, measured at 77mm. This fits fine into standard rear valance bodywork. The end cans also contain baffles which I don’t recall whether are present on a standard unit.
The two important fixing points are the front bracket (manifold end) and the rear bracket pin position. The fixing points to the undertray that supports to weight at the centre box are universal (and also the same on the Griff) and the front bracket position should be universal for all Chimaeras (but incorrectly positioned for a Griff).
