1964 VW 21-Window Samba | 2165cc | Show Standard

This is my stunning 1964 Volkswagen 21-Window Samba, finished in Porsche Etna Blue and powered by a 2165cc high-performance engine with Porsche servo-assisted brakes, CSP rack & pinion steering, and a custom Walklett gearbox.

It’s genuinely the best split-screen I’ve driven – turnkey and ready for long trips.

Spec and Highlights

• 2165cc engine: AS41 case, 78mm Scat crank, 94mm pistons & barrels

• 44 IDF Webers, CB Street Eliminator heads, Porsche cooling

• Straight axle conversion with custom Walklett gearbox

• Servo-assisted Porsche brakes with remote booster

• CSP rack & pinion steering, narrowed beam, dropped spindles, Bilstein shocks

• Vintage Speed exhaust, LED rear lights

• Polished pop-out windows all round, Creative Safaris front and rear

• Fully sound-deadened with new headliner and Devon-style camping interior

This van is properly sorted. It cruises happily at motorway speeds and recently completed a full trip to Chimay for EBI (including hours in Belgian traffic) without overheating or any issues.

• 1964 – Exported to France

• c.1967 – Moved to Austria (Austrian paperwork included)

• 1990s – Imported to the UK, fully restored (photo documented)

• 2016 – Additional overhaul and running gear improvements

• 2022 – Purchased from Type 2 Detectives

• Commissioned final metalwork and full respray in Porsche Etna Blue

• Interior finishing, soundproofing, and final detailing
