EXTERIOR

Fully restored by the previous owner to his dream specification of Old English White over burgundy, this original chrome bumper MG B Roadster presents beautifully beneath our studio lights. Clearly much love and attention were lavished on the car during its 2010-2013 restoration because the quality of the finish is excellent. Having just been treated to a full machine polish by our in-house detailer, the paintwork retains a lovely depth of shine as do all the chrome elements including the bumpers, grille, and door handles. The car further benefits from a Heritage body shell, immaculate wire wheels, and a contrasting burgundy hood in pristine condition. Period grille badges and a boot-mounted luggage rack complete the look.

INTERIOR

The interior has been very tastefully re-trimmed in soft burgundy leather with white piping, offering a rich contrast to the exterior that really pops when the roof is down. The seats remain in perfect unworn condition, and the matching door cards and carpets are spotless. Premium leather extends from the seats and along the centre console, again all immaculate. The classic MG dash is clean and tidy with a few subtle upgrades including a push-button starter, CD player, and handy fire extinguisher. The wood-rimmed steering wheel feels great in hand, and underfoot the carpets are well protected by tailored lambswool overmats.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

With a little choke the 1.8-litre B-Series engine fires into life quickly before settling to a smooth idle and pulling eagerly through the rev rage. During its restoration less than 1,700 miles ago, the car was also attended to mechanically, including a rebuild of the engine and overhaul of the running gear. Out on the road the 4-speed manual gearbox – complete with overdrive – feels tight and precise, making for an enjoyable and engaging open-top driving experience.

HISTORY FILE

The accompanying Heritage Certificate shows this beautiful example to have left the factory in March 1972. Originally sold through Phil Read Limited in Torquay, the car has now seen only 5 registered keepers. An extensive restoration of the body and mechanicals was carried out under previous ownership and the result is what you see here, a well sorted chrome bumper MG B Roadster in a delightful colour combination. Also included in the paperwork is a thick raft of invoices, MOT certificates, original spare keys, and the current V5C registration document showing 4 former keepers.
