Description
Originally delivered to the German market (C00) and finished in Marine Blue (L35V) with grey leather, this early Carrera 2 was imported to the UK by Adrian Crawford in 1999 and was bought by the current owner just a couple of years later in 2001. The car shows 150,000km and carries a solid, well-documented history across its four owners (two in Germany, two here). Factory equipment includes heated front seats (139/340), sunroof (650), rear wiper (425), yellow-lens fog lamps (430), green-graduated windscreen tint (567), and the desirable ''delete model designation'' rear end (498). The interior features ruffled-leather seat inserts (980) and rear RLL covers (935). Over the last 20+ years, the car has been developed with real care and an engineer's eye for drivability. In 2011 it received a top-end rebuild by Bob Watsonone of the last he completed and, by his own account, one of his best. The engine now runs a Motec M48 ECU on Alpha-N with a large-throttle-body and uprated injectors by Ninemeister. It dynoed just under 300bhp, but was tuned deliberately for low-down torque rather than headline numbers, giving it a wonderfully responsive, muscular feel on the road. Chassis and braking have been uprated in line with the power delivery: Koni adjustable dampers at RS ride height, RS-spec brakes, a Torsen differential built at Xtrac, 17? Cup wheels, Cup mirrors, front splitters, and RS brake ducts in place of the front fogs. A twin-cup exhaust and RS rear bumper complete the exterior. The car also benefits from central locking, Scorpion immobiliser, a high-level brake light, and a marine-blue centre gauge by Reap Automotive with mph conversion while retaining the km odometer. If you have even a passing interest in buying an older 911, we'd really encourage you to come and drive this one before looking at anything else. It's a genuinely special caralive, beautifully balanced, and with an exhaust note that's worth the trip on its own.
