The X1 produces approximately 500–600kg of downforce from its twin-tunnel ground-effect floor and balanced aero package.

With a dry weight of just 390–400kg (option depending) and 198bhp from the proven Suzuki Hayabusa engine, it delivers approximately 500bhp per tonne, 0–100km/ h in 3 seconds, up to 2. 8g lateral acceleration and a top speed of circa 235km/ h (146mph).

But this car isn’t about straight-line speed. The thrill is in the corners, exactly where the X1 excels.

Engineered for Drivers, Not Just Engineers

Unlike many modern formula cars, the X1 was designed with a clear philosophy: keep it simple, keep it repairable, keep it affordable to run.

The 4130 chromoly steel spaceframe chassis features FIA-spec Diolin side intrusion panels and distinctive “Henry bars” cockpit protection. It is strong, safe and significantly more cost-effective than a carbon tub.

Suspension is pushrod operated with aluminium monoshocks front and rear: fixed specification to prevent expensive development wars and keep competition close.

The result is a car you can genuinely run without a team. As described in Racecar Engineering, it is effectively “wash and race”.

Proven, Reliable Power

At its heart sits a stock 1340cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine producing 198bhp and 150Nm.

Minimal internal modifications mean excellent reliability, strong engine availability, controlled running costs and true parity racing.

The six-speed sequential gearbox, chain drive and hand clutch keep the experience raw and engaging, complete with traditional lever shift.

Where the Hyper Racer X1 truly stands apart is operating cost.

Compared with many comparable categories, annual budgets are dramatically lower thanks to durable Hankook F3 tyres, spec suspension components, interchangeable parts across corners, limited setup complexity and genuine owner-driver friendly maintenance.

The Hyper Racer X1 is now represented in the UK, with cars already being campaigned to demonstrate performance and reliability.
