Description
Selling my very cool but unfortunately badly maintained Cube. Let's look at the good point and all the bad ones:
Good point(s):
Square (well, Cube if you're a NERD)
Very cool car
Very cool private reg included
Rare manual box
Bad points:
Currently SORN
Needs work on brakes
Has patches of rust
Badly modified by previous owner (more detail later)
Smells weird inside (have dog, but not used for dogging)
Occasionally misfires under load. Maybe once a week? Car perhaps not a Monday person.
Around 128,000 miles. Will update this when I get the jump pack out and check the display, but definitely rocketship territory.
Probably more, will update as I find / remember.
Basically what you're buying is a nearly rolling restoration, or using it to part out a much nicer Cube. The back brakes were recently refurbished but the handbrake isn't holding very well. Previous owner had rounded and then painted over every single bolt on the callipers / carriers. Needed heat to get anything moving, spanner was sent flying over garden in frustration more than once. Front brakes will be just as bad but couldn't face them after the fight with the rears.
The car had a big sub fitted when I bought it, removed by previous owner on sale. Can't speak for the quality of the wiring but it isn't well hidden and there's a gentle rattle behind the dash on the drivers side that does my head in.
Previous owner has lowered the car (don't know how much. Enough to make potholes feel like car crashes but not so much that speed bumps are impassable.) It has some aftermarket wheels. These are on spacers. They poke out the arches and made me nervous when I drove past police. Previous owner cut the original studs with an angle grinder so would need replacements to fit old wheels. I think I have the original wheels, can be included if I dig them out.
Exhaust is a cool looking centre exit. Quite loud. I leave for work at 6am and my neighbours accidentally dropped nails on my drive after buying the car.
It hasn't been serviced since I bought it, I forgot. It hasn't had an MOT for a while, I was scared of the outcome. It has some kind of service history, which starts off inpressive and gets worse as you read.
I am told the car was originally owned by a Nissan mechanic, and maintained to a high standard. Then Halfords Harry got his hands on it, made it worse, and like a mentally unstable ex-girlfriend, I thought I could save it. (I couldn't).
Any questions, feel free to ask but don't anticipate that I'll know the answer. Please text / WhatsApp me, I don't answer my phone because I'm a coward.
I am open to offers, but am also aware that despite the condition, having a UK spec. Kaizan manual is not to be sniffed at.
P.S. I'm trying to restore a 2006 Hyundai Getz that belonged to my grandad. If anybody knows where to get a cheap head for a 1.1 petrol Getz, let me know!
TO BE CLEAR - THE CAR WILL NEED TAKEN AWAY ON A TRAILER / MAGIC CARPET. IT IS KNACKERED, SORN, AND UNPLEASANT TO DRIVE FOR LONG PERIODS
