1971 VOLKSWAGEN CAMPERVAN

A rare opportunity to own a highly original 1971 VW Devon Moonraker camper that has been in the same family from new. Originally purchased by a local gentleman in Kent in 1971, the vehicle remained in his ownership until 10 years ago when his granddaughter purchased it from him. With a genuine 50,000 miles and extensive original documentation, this is an exceptional example, and we have never seen anything quite like it in all of our years of selling these vehicles.

The van has been very well cared for from new and waxoyled regularly, helping preserve its remarkably solid condition. The paintwork has been professionally detailed and ceramic coated, the chrome has been renewed, and the underside has been inspected by BD Engineering, who described it as exceptional.

Powered by its original 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four engine, it runs and drives very well and has been fully serviced by us on the bench whilst removed from the vehicle for a detailed inspection. We have also fitted a new crankshaft oil seal and a brand new fuel tank.

Inside, the original Devon camper conversion remains in excellent condition, with a complete, original suite of Devon furniture. The bus still has its original pop-top canvas, which we could also replace with a new one if desired.

Unbelievable original documentation from new including both original owners manuals for the vehicle and for the Moonraker conversion from Devon Motor caravans (extremely rare) and the even rarer original service record from new and VW punch card. We have never seen a vehicle before with all of this original history.
