1996 TVR

Griffith 500 with power steering.

This is the second time i have owned this car after a very long search since 2008 when i sold it,to give you an idea of the work that was done in the winter of 2006 I have pasted my original advert below.

It is with great regret that i am putting my griff up for sale.

The car is a 1996 (P) 500 in coolwater blue pearl with magnolia hide with navy carpets.

All important power steering is present and the engine is a serp.

Most of the people reading this add will be well aware of the pitfalls and usual problems associated with this model

so i will list the work that has been done in the last 2 years

Full body off resto : this was done not because of any rust problems but because the underside was covered in black wax oil

which stuck to everything like tar. The chassis turned out to be an absolute minter with only minor surface rust to the corners

and the original powder coat was still on the out rigger tops ( i have photos of before and after shot blasting) the chassis was stripped

and zinc sprayed then sprayed with POR15 note not brushed on (I spoke to the manufacture in the states and this was and is the most

effective way to apply because "if applied too thick by brush the integrity of the product is weakened ") 5 coats in total. The Chassis is

still immaculate in everyway.

Parts at this time included:

Full power flex bush kit this includes the rear diff mount

Steve heath drop links front and rear.

All wishbones stripped and coated including anti roll bars.

Avo front shocks

rear shocks checked and deemed serviceable.

Absolutely every nut and bolt replaced total cost £120 and i mean every.

full stainless flexy brake hose kit.

Fuel lines replaced.

Hand brake serviced and modified so now is as good as a modern car.

top ball joints.

4 new tyres (falkens)

all fluids replaced diff gearbox etc.

Gearbox mounts.

exhaust manifod gaskets

Precats removed

drive belt replaced

Full carpet set by coverdale(not just floor mats)

All remaining parts cleaned checked and painted.

The car was then enjoyed last summer for about 3,000 miles i then set about more power and better drivability:

The car was rolling roaded and made 280 bhp and 315ltb torque and then had

A stealth Cam kit by V8 developments this was ground by piper and not kent inc piper lifters

New push rods

new rocker shafts and rockers

new timing chain etc

new water pump

new tensioner

ACT Smooth bore induction

Real xenon headlight conversion (not just bulbs)

This car is very very smooth and pulls very strong with great oil pressure @ 35 when hot

A hot start kit is also fitted

Total spent must be over 3k and the car needs nothing but a driver and fuel , I have loved and pampered every part of this car in the two years of ownership but a 4 seater sports car is needed as i am finding it harder to find the time to use it.

Anybody that views this car will not be disappointed in anyway the car is in great condition (in someway far better than new) the usual odd stonechip is present .

The rest of the body in great condition with no signs of any rust :-) The only bad bit is the car was lightly damaged in 1999 and is such recorded as a cat d i have all the bills and service history up to 23875 miles since then i would not let else touch the car other than myself i have folder full of bills including the repair parts.

This car is probably one of the best you will find and is not being sold for any other reason than stated above i will not give the car away and will not entertain silly P/x figures, this car will match any dealer car upto £20k for condition and quality, the car is known locally by TVR club and members on pistonheads feel free to post as i have nothing to hide. I have loads of pics including underneath and when the body was off and would be happy to send in genuinely interested parties.

In the hands of the gentleman who purchase the car from me in 2008 the car has been loved and has had dry weather use only. In the last 5 years and 5000 miles the following has been done by Sportmotive.

As you can imagine the car is now immaculate having only covered 3000miles since its full respray the M.O.T is due in June and i will try to get done before sale and there is 5 months tax remaining.

Just serviced 300 miles ago and a replacement air mass meter just fitted, at the same time a full top end strip inc new valley gasket and rockers checked for pad wear,cam checked(still as new),sump gasket replaced etc. The chassis is still totally rust free and the engine is very strong and smooth. To find a car of this caliber today would cost a great deal of money and should you wish to take another Griff to this level then you would need an understanding wife and serious amounts of spare time. It might also be worth mentioning that when recently Hpi'd the car came up clear and after speaking to Equifax the marker was against a previous private plate D11AAA which was not registered on this vehicle untill 01/12/2004?(please take as Cat d 1999 as they are not willing to open an investigation due to the amount of time since the original marker was listed) no offers please as a car of this quality does not come available often.
